I would! The macromate mini is VERY tricky to use and get used to. Sometimes I wish I had a GH5 just because it allows you to take true photos. But if you're just doing videos, this thing rocks!

I have my rig all set up. Do you recommend any sort of carrying case or bag for a rig this size?

Notice any hot spots? And I'm surprised you turned them away instead of lowering the intensity.

I was told the spots wouldn't be as good for macro since they won't evenly light the subject.

Just bought a Gopro 7 black for my Komodo and Bali trip! (I do plan to use it back home here in SoCal and Florida) Anyways, I'm trying to build a rig for myself. I would ideally like to shoot a lot of macro footage. For this, I will be using the macromate mini! But this leads me to my next...

I'm thinking about not going with Mermaid and doing Empress instead. I hear lots of good things about the Empress. It's also 1/3 the price and I'll get to do more diving in Komodo.

Anyone on this thread have anything to say about the Empress? I know it used to be a tech boat in Malaysia but that's no longer the case. I'd like to know if you or someone you know has been on their liveaboard recently.

I might cancel Mermaid and do the Empress. The deal is just too good. And they have very good reviews. Sure it's only 5 days but that's what day trips are for.

Why did you rule out Empress? Their reviews on liveaboards.com are really good. I was going to go with the mermaid but its so expensive I might do empress.

Since the transit is so long, did it feel rushed? And did you get to dive the super famous sites in Komodo more than once?

I heard Bima has really good muck diving. Comparable with Lembeh... Yeah, Moyo looks alright. Probably a lot better than anywhere I've ever been.

Did they do the Moyo Village visit? If so, how was it? And the massive amount of flying foxes at night...

How do they distribute the large video?

Do they sell them for a reasonable price?
