So my old SeaQuest back inflate finally bit the dust and I need to pick up a new rig. Decided on jumping on the BP+W train but am a bit overwhelmed with all of the options. I've had some people say that they're all the same and just go for the cheapest while I've heard other people...
Hey all,
I've got a custom open cell wetsuit and have dealt with sunscreen degrading the neoprene on the interior of my suit before (primarily the hood). I talked with the guy that made the suit and he said that this is pretty much unavoidable as any sunscreen will do this to the neoprene. I'm...
I'm still having trouble grasping the relationship between wave height and period and what that means for diving. For now, let's ignore whether we are boat diving or shore diving. Let's just look at it like we're already in the water and at depth, say a relatively shallow dive, 25-45 feet. I'm...
Typically haven't had to deal with bad diving conditions but with winter approaching, I'm making sure to check the conditions before we go out. What do you guys consider bad conditions in terms of wave height, swell and period?
Also, could someone clarify what swell is? Are they just talking...
It's for some research I'm doing. I'll be recording fish behavior at specific times and will later be syncing that up with GPS coordinates.
Right now, trying to decide between a cheap Casio, the Mudder, or the Timex Ironman Classic. Will be pulling the trigger tonight.
Is this the Oshen that you were talking about?

And is this the Timex Ironman Classic you were talking about...
What brand is yours? Thinking about grabbing some cheap Casio. Nearly all of them are okay to use at depth (often far deeper than I'll be going) but say that while snorkeling with it is okay, scuba diving is not. My only concern is that while short dives might be okay, longer dives in rapid...
Just like title says, looking for cheap, digital watch that I can use while diving. Cheap as possible. All it needs to do is tell the time, nothing else. Won't be diving deep, likely less than 30 feet but if it could go deeper, great. Nothing fancy. Preferably on Amazon. Recommendations?
Edit...
Going for CA spiny lobsters in a few days. Can you make your own lobster gauge? Or does it have to be one purchased? If you can make one, would a simple PVC pipe work?
Edit: Also, is it possible to keep lobsters for a few days? Would freezing it work? Or should I really just eat it right away?
Hey guys,
I'm going to be replacing my hose tomorrow so I want to buy the necessary gear today. What kind of lubricant should I be using on the hose threads before I screw them in?
Thanks!
Just like the title says. Would you guys recommend using a filter if shooting macro video with lights? Or would the lights be enough that you don't need to use the filter?
Sorry for the confusion. I'm not really asking whether or not I'm bent, I know that I very well could be. I'm more interested in whether a mild case of DCS still necessitates a trip to a hyperbaric chamber.
Okay. What would you recommend my next step be?
Should I wait until tomorrow to see if I feel that I'm bent? Should I call DAN now and try to get to a decompression chamber?
My right arm is a little bit sore but mostly in my bicep area (not my joints). Nothing serious though, just a minor...
Ascent rate on first dive was probably about 10 feet/min. Maybe 15 feet/min.
Ascent rate on second dive was probably 15-20 feet/min.
Ascent rate on third dive was similar to first. 10-15 feet/min.
Sorry I can't be more specific. Spent probably 1-2 min on the surface between my "second" and...
I apologize for not being more specific, I don't have a computer that I can pull the dive profile from but from what I recall the first dive went something like this:
45 feet (~12 min), 40 feet (~7 min), 50 feet (~15 min), ascend slowly, safety stop at 15 feet (3 min)
As for my ascent rate on...
