I am new here, and I apologise in advance if this doesn't make any sense.
I heard that, according to the GUE standards, Nitrox limits are more conservative than the "regular ones".
Is this correct, or have I understood wrong ?
Thank you.
I always thought the Skippers were the people who had to drive the boat.
In diving, some of them had the added bonus of helping divers with the equipment. The ones I met so far, help a bit, some are really helpfull, and a few don't really care much.
I recently realised there a bit more to be...
I am not sure how to explain this - mostly because it was treated as irrelevant by the instructor and the other divers. So, I have a feeling that I am over-reacting.
But, here goes:
I was invited to be "the victim" in a Rescue class , but ended up doing the exercises also. At some point, we...
I am back from a small island in the Azores. The dives were fabulous, in several environments, and I can say I learned a lot.
Azores sea can be rough, especially with strong currents, so it was all new to me.
One of the dives was in a spot that is considered difficult, (but I only learned...
One day I will probably do a night dive, but the idea is a bit scary, mainly because I am afraid of the dark :)
At first, I thought I would never try it, but I am getting curious ... So I am just wondering how that kind of dive was for you :)
Thanks !
I had two instructors.
The first taught me that the fins were the first thing to put on, because if you put the weight belt, if you fell off the boat you could be in trouble.
The second said that the weight belt was first, because you could lose balance and fall with your fins on.
I tried...
Where do you put your knife ?
I seached for threads about this, and I've read them, but I still have doubts, and here is the problem: I saw divers with knives placed on hoses, and was told that this is now the right place to put them. I asked about safety concerns, and was looked at as "new...
I am wearing a semi-dry, a vest, and a sweat-shirt made of polyester ... the strange thing is, I get cold in the arms, and as soon as this happens, I start shivering. I have ended all my dives with my arms almost wrapped around me.
I will soon have a new vest made for me, but it will not solve...
Hello !
This weekend the weather was finally better, and we had our Open Water classes (after 9 classes in the pool). For me, it was incredible. After all the panic I had felt before with the other instructor, it was most of all realizing that the panic was gone even more incredible, I...
So far I have been unable to do this exercise:
Scuba Diving: achieving better buoyancy - Chicago scuba diving | Examiner.com
I always fall on my back. My instructor says it does not matter the position you are doing it, but everytime we are trying this way - I am facing the surface - water...
About 2 months ago I posted for the first time on this Forum, asking for help (http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/new-divers-those-considering-diving/490161-breathing-problems.html ). I received very good advice and support.
Sorry for the long post, but I have no other way of explaining what...
My husband told me that some years ago he went diving with a group of friends. They were no deeper than 25 feet, and everything was ok when they ascended.
Immediately after the dive one of them made a lot of effort pulling the anchor of the boat. Shortly afterwards he showed signs of DCS.
So...
Hello everyone, I am new here, and also very new to diving - actually I'm probably not even "new" yet.
I went for my first dive (a diving baptism) a few days ago, and everything went wrong.
I began having trouble breathing right before I got in the water - I couldn't breath "fully" and felt...
