    Diving Mexico Recommendations

Cozumel diving 100%. Isla is fun to visit for maybe 3 days but after that it gets old fast in my opinion. The diving there is no where near Cozumel, dives are more expensive, way shorter as the operators claim a marine park regulated 35 minute max bottom time ( ridiculous), dives are mostly...

    Diving Mexico Recommendations

I dive Cozumel every year , it's been fantastic. PM me and I'll give you my recommendations. I've also dived Isla and Peurto Morelos and have some advice there as well if you want.

    Possible southern reef closure

Just returned from Cozumel. Overall a great dive trip and definitely worth going and glad we did not change our destination. Yes , there's were some dives where the reef looked like the first new snowfall of the winter with white as far as the eye can see , but also sites that looked like...

    Possible southern reef closure

That's a great summary and thank you !! I'll be there Nov 22 for a week and relieved reading your post. Don't drink all the beer before I get there :-)

    The Cayman Happy Hour

Please post it !! Honestly I have avoided GC only because of the cost.

Forgot to hook up inflator - near miss

That’s good to hear , if that did cause you trauma , you shouldn’t take the next step and roll backwards into the water

    The Cayman Happy Hour

Sounds promising !! Haven’t been to GC mostly because of the cost. Now if I could just find a reasonable place to stay that is within walking distance to these places I just might have to go soon :-)

    Isla Mujeres extra long dive

My feelings exactly , have to be extra cautious there , or just go to Cozumel

    Isla Mujeres extra long dive

Dove Isla last November , never again. It appeared to me diving operations on Isla have a whole bunch of catching up to do in order to be current with expectations of today’s standards. Unorganized , told the marine park has a 35 minute max time ( WTF) , most dives were shallow and surfaced...

Forgot to hook up inflator - near miss

I think it's a great thing to practice for safety and understanding your equipment function. I would challenge those who think they're saving air by doing this prior to a dive , unless it is done a few minutes before entry. The effort required to lift the inflators hose up to your mouth , push...

    Possible southern reef closure

I was searching info on the Barracuda dive site and more than one article referenced missing divers. One site was reefsofcozumel . I know the web is misleading and am looking for advice from the experts here

    Possible southern reef closure

Hi would be great if anyone is currently in Cozumel , or going there soon , and could report back how the diving in the open sites is working out !!! Maybe the less common sites are equal or superior to the usual ??? Diving the North is an interesting subject to me, but , I've read the weather...

First time to Cozumel -- how much is too much?

    Yes and yes

"Observations show an average 260 touches per one hour dive for a party of four."

I agree regarding the swim throughs in Cozumel, I must say though as careful as I try to be and conscious of the gaps around me , some I've been taken through are so tight it's very difficult to avoid some contact at times. I would choose not to go through next time based on the possibility of...

"Observations show an average 260 touches per one hour dive for a party of four."

My first trip to Roatan , group of 4 somewhat experienced divers , after the first dive our DM asked if we would mind some criticism....we absolutely said bring it on , which he did. He was exceptional , addressed some things neither of us realized and mostly related to buoyancy/air...

First time to Cozumel -- how much is too much?

Not to sound negative about Dressel at the Iberostar ( I've stayed there 5 times over 5 years) , they operate a fine tuned cattle drive every single day from what I've seen. By this , I am referring to large groups of divers parading to and from the boats ( also large). One in our group took...

    Possible southern reef closure

Soooooo frustrating this is becoming and looking more like a giant incompetent waste of time. To reopen it on Dec 15 will give them 5 weeks to do what ????? I presume enough tourists started to cancel their reservations over the high season. If closing it in the first place made any sense ...

    Possible southern reef closure

How about parrot fish spending all day crunching on coral ?? If a spreadable disease is upon the reef , I believe the natural inhabitants would do a very good job of spreading it unknowingly of course...... unlikely divers.

For Rent: Next years (2020) week Buddy Dive Resort

Thanks for the update. Apparently my wife tells me she doesn't want to go back to Bonaire so soon :-( (we were there in April) , so for now I cannot commit.
