When is the Teric 2 releasing?

I have been a Teric user since day one and opted for a second for my tech diving over the Perdix; I find the screen easier to see and having two of the same helps as I can use muscle memory to change settings and no thought needed. Unfortunately lost (someone permanently borrowed 😒) one of...

Should we put fork in DSS?

I could try this combo next week … I’ll get my friend to bring it over and see if it goes!

Should we put fork in DSS?

Thank you Eric!! Do you know if a STA is needed with alternative wings? The only BP/W setup is the DSS kit so I have neither needed nor used a STA.

Should we put fork in DSS?

I dive a DSS plate and T26 wing. Works perfectly with many dives on it. However as DSS is now out of business, I would like to be prepared in case the wing, one day, does fail. There have been numerous mentions of the VDH wing working but does anyone have any actual experience with other wings...

    Shearwater Teric or Perdix?

I did recent dives with my Teric and had a Perdix as my backup. Both fantastic computers but I much prefer the Teric screen. I find it easier to read, brighter and the size of the buttons was never an issue.

Halcyon Carbon Fiber Plus Backplate / System

Looks very nice. How have you found the wings? I have always dived with a DSS backplate and wing but hoping to find a lighter option for travel but also DSS do not appear to have restarted operations after moving shop so looking for alternatives.

    Sidemount regulator recommendations?

Hi Ahmed, may I ask where you ordered from? I eventually chose the MTX-R and have been very happy with it. Excellent breathing in every position and depth (max has been 55m so far), robust and looks great. I like the simplicity and ability to configure it any way you need with the number of...

    Sidemount regulator recommendations?

So what about the Aqualung Legend with the fixed ports on the 1st stage? I have seen posts about some that use this reg but they never posted pictures of hose routings and whether the fixed port required significant compromises or not. I already have 100+ dives on my Legend LX Supreme and would...

    Sidemount regulator recommendations?

Thank you. I will try to find a source for this nut. I am interested in ScubaPro however I excluded them for the simple reason of not wanting 3 different regulators from 3 different manufacturers. I included Deep 6 as I could service them myself. There is no ScubaPro distributor able to off er...

    Sidemount regulator recommendations?

Is there a significant difference in the M1 and the T3? I currently use the T3 for single tank diving and if all I needed was a second T3, replacement hoses and the gauges, it may not keep my costs down but I'm not left with extra regs gathering dust in my dive room. I have struggled to find...

    Sidemount regulator recommendations?

Thank you TC. They are sounding good and I hope to get the Eddy fins so this is an attractive option. What are the chances you could help find a 'friendly' discount?

    Sidemount regulator recommendations?

I am. But I do hope to eventually use my SM skills to try cave and overhead environments. According to Simply Scuba, it is! "The first stages use the typical environmentally sealed balanced diaphragm design with a swivelling turret and fifth low pressure port on the end of the turret." Have...

    Sidemount regulator recommendations?

Hi all, I currently own an Aqualung LX Supreme regulator set and Atomic Aquatics T3 regulator set for my single tank diving. I have just started sidemount diving and used Apeks XTX50 during my training. I liked them but not a fan of the small purge button. I have a XDeep stealth 2.0 Rec BC and...

    Dive Master gear set up

As everyone has suggested, there is no standard past needing a buoyancy control device, depth gauge etc etc. The configuration is very open. I did my DM with a DSS backplate and wing, hogarthan harness, 40” underarm hos routing. The instructor had no issue herself with it except for laughing...

    starter regulator

If diving infrequently, I'd imagine you will not wish to spend a lot of money but it is worth going for a regulator that has all the features you might ever want as it will likely last a long time. I have the Aqualung Legend and the Atomic T3. The T3 is without a doubt, the best you can get BUT...

Thinking about going to backplate & wing config for travel, what do I need to know?

Hi guys, I understand this is a very old post but in case some look back on it for advice, I'd like to add my input. I bought a complete rig from Tobin a few years ago. A SS (medium) plate, Torus 26 wing and a Hog harness. This isn't the lightest weight rig he sells, but it certainly isn't the...

Plates designed for Single Tanks ?

Hoping I can ask a question after all this time ... I'm looking for an extremely lightweight travel setup and have been considering the same set up you mentioned here: The DSS Torus17 and Oxycheq ultra lite backplate. How are they to dive with compared to a more traditional BPW set up? I...

Berating an "Instructor" on a dive boat. How should I have handled differently?

Firstly, kr2y5 - excellent post. The rest of this clearly doesn't apply to you! This community may consist of DMs, Instructors, Trainers etc as lowviz stated. But one thing I notice missing on a large number of posts on this site, regardless of standing in the diving community, is civility...

    Confessions of a card chaser

I think Mustard Dave had a very good point: there is a good chance you will a) have a load of bad habits to unlearn, or b) be a very competent diver who will get nothing out of the course. I did very few dives between OW and AOW and glad I did so. I'd rather spend my formative dives with...
