I just saw this, so sorry about the late answer. Would stiffness play a role here? As some materials are much stiffer than others.
Silicon is much floppier than EPDM
Aquanauts run from a resort marina. They have pretty much the largest boats in town.
Try the wreck in the afternoon, better chance of seeing eagle rays.
sorry if this gets to you too late.
Try Medive on 10th, or Scubaprice on the highway towards the southend of town. Pretty much in front of Playacar.
These masks are not a replacement for correct equalization though
I have been places where Atomic could not be serviced. Outside the US stick with brands like Aqualung, Mares and SP.
Poseidon service in more remote places is a nightmare
I still dive my original Mk10 I bought 30 years ago. About 3000 dives. Looks crap as most of the chrome is gone, inside perfect.
I sent you a dm as I am originally Dutch as well
I know the reply is very late, but I have my transmitter on a short hose, so it does not break off when lifting the gear.

Description is in Dutch.
I share this here as there may be someone interested here
What I did not see mentioned is to make sure you can get the parts and/or work where you will be going.
Especially in remote places it is usually easier to get parts for more "known" brands than for somewhat less known brands. If possible bring parts on a boat, and maybe some tools.
The more...
I just saw his thread and here you mention something really important.
If you have the best reg for it but are unable to get good service for it they are useless, especially in severe weather.
Make sure you are able to get them serviced.
