    7mm easiest to put on?

My Hollis NeoTek is easy to don and doff but I always wear a rash guard and compression shorts underneath. I once dove a SolaFX and that was uncomfortable af in every sense of the word. My dry suit is more comfortable and convenient, of course, but sometimes I want to be in the water rather...

New BP/W suggestions please. 18lb wing in tropical waters - any concerns?

I have a 30# Oxycheq wing and a 17# Deep Sea Supply Torus Wing (RIP DSS :crying: ). My 30# is on a steel backplate and it is my daily driver. My 17# wing is on a lightweight bp and I intended to use it for quick trips to nice and warm places but I just bring my main rig most times. In your...

Who Needs a wetsuit for tropical water diving anyway?

I remember this one time I was diving in the Caribbean and this dude was pulled over mid water column by the scuba police for wearing gloves. It was embarrassing. Worst thing is they asked for his c card and registration and he had left it ashore.

Revision in Progress - Traveling Survey

Was this survey reviewed and approved by your IRB? I am surprised you are studying user experience design and your survey is so poorly designed. For example, you present the following: “Please indicate which you have done in the last 6 months.”; however, the interface only allows the selection...

    Rolock 90

Another benefit is no branding. If you experience a catastrophic glove failure you run the risk of flooding your entire suit with (potentially cold) water which is just about the worst thing that can happen in a dry suit. I don't think I'd trust some pvc/nitrile/rubber gloves that much nor I...

Got mine today. Super simple to set up with the videos provided by OP, using Showa 720s. Very easy to don and doff.

Dive Computer Alarms: should we even have them?

We increasingly have poka-yokes on every other aspect of life--even for far less dangerous undertakings. Even though I think the color codes on my Perdix AI are sufficient to me wrt tank pressure, PPO2, and GTR, it is not in keeping with almost every other piece of technology humans operate...

what kind of diver are you?

I try to dive everywhere I go—both work-related and personal trips. Sometimes I get lucky and end up going to great places for diving. I went diving in the beautiful waters of San Andres, Colombia thanks to a work trip, in Puerto Rico while on vacation, the Keys for work and vacation, Monterey...

    Help Save UCSC Scuba Program

The director of athletics and recreation decided athletics is all that matters and recreation doesn’t. She has laid off the SCUBA instructors and will terminate the program. This program has been in existence for over 50 years and has trained more than 10,000 students. As we all know, scuba...

    Vehicle question

I have a Hitchsafe and I love it. I lock my keys when I go diving, or running, or to the gym and don’t want to use the lockers. It’s one of the most convenient things ever. That and the air suspension that lets me lower my truck to the perfect height to put on my bc and other gear. I love my truck.

    Conception Indictments

Complacency kills. Every sailor worth his salt knows that. We are all responsible for our actions and our inactions, regardless of whether the result was intended or unintended. Rest assured the government has the burden of proving those actions and/or inactions meet the standard of manslaughter...

    Choosing a 7mm

People need to chill with the drysuit recommendations. Once you take into account replaceable seal systems, undergarments, and accessories, taxes, and fees, that Seaskin will be a $1400 purchase. Then you need to account for training costs and time, and even more time to practice your skills...

Fitness-style ankle weights with drysuit? Dumb idea?

Those wenoka fins don’t seem heavy at all. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were positive. Maybe try renting some jet fins if they are offered locally or see if a buddy can lend you his fins for a pool session.

Black Friday... that time of year... wish list/unnecessary purchase?

What size? There’s an unused XL SolAfx semi-dry for sale in the classifieds. Also, Deep 6 has had their 7mm wetsuits on sale for a while now. It is by all accounts a very good suit and at $225 it is a great deal. While not a semi-dry, it has sealed seams and wrist and ankle gaskets that reduce...
