    ScubaPro MK10 IP Question

Actually, these were two new -II seats and switching to -I seats bumped the IP by about 12 psi in both regulators. Nothing else was changed. I simply swapped the seats after I saw that the IP was too low and the regs were already fully shimmed (well, one had only two shims, but I didn't have...

Thanks all. Much appreciated. @rhwestfall, I used Tribolube 71.

    ScubaPro MK10 IP Question

So I've got two MK10s that I just revived from the bin at the shop and serviced. One had an old red seat, the other had a -II gray seat. Even though everything was in good shape, because these were basically bags of parts, I did not have the opportunity to test them before service, so I...

Have SB divers lost interest in GC?

I've been to GC twice since it reopened and had a great time (FWIW, I probably had 25 trips there pre-Covid so I have pretty good perspective). A couple of things. First, it was closed for a long time, obviously. But Cayman was relatively unique in that their early aggressive response to...

Congrats on the full cave Marie. Little did I know it was you I talked to yesterday at Taj. Small SB world. Joe (from Houston)

    Zeagle - shuttle valve orientation

Short version: In servicing a Zeagle Flathead VI/7 or F8 second stage, when inserting the shuttle valve in the barrel, does it matter whether the short leg "L" shape on the shuttle faces towards or away from the diaphragm? To be clear, I understand the importance of orienting the shuttle valve...

    Teric Compass Calibration

For sure. If I have it on the same wrist as my rebreather handset it is useless.

Hypercapnia Hit and then planning for BO with a delayed Deco Switch?

I, too, am not sure I understand the question. It seems like you are asking whether there are simple rules for disregarding what your dive planning software/dive computer are calculating for optimal deco. Absent some equipment failure, gas loss or poor dive planning, why would you ever depart...

Meg BOV options - Divesoft vs ISC

Yes, that's more than I'm willing to change. I'm also fine with the O2 MAV where it is on my CL. I wonder if I can get a dil MAV only. As I said, I could use that one for sure, both as a replacement for the MGB I lost when I got the minnows and because the Meg ADV is not my favorite and I'm...

Meg BOV options - Divesoft vs ISC

Question for you @tbone1004 regarding O2 flushes with the face MAV. I'm used to O2 flushing my Meg by crushing the loop between inhale CL and DSV and jamming O2, which then runs backwards through the unit, venting through the dump on my exhale CL and mouth. Does a pretty good job of cleaning...

Meg BOV options - Divesoft vs ISC

Thanks. The MAV option is definitely interesting, particularly as my minnow lungs don't have a mixed gas bypass like my old OTS lungs. A couple of weeks ago I had a slow DIL leak through the shutoff/ADV which drained most of my remaining DIL. I ended up having to plug my deep bailout into my...

Meg BOV options - Divesoft vs ISC

Looking at BOV options for my Meg. Not super interested in the GG because I don't want to deal with the customer service issue (even if I mitigate that by going through SubGravity rather than GG). So, I've narrowed it down to the ISC BOV and the Divesoft. I would be grateful for the...

    I'm having trouble deploying DSMB...

That thing is ridiculous. I've played with the ten footers, which suck. Can't imagine this thing. I suspect that your difficulties will diminish greatly if you get dsmb that is designed for the real world.

Divemasters Should Ask 'Is Your Oxygen ON?'

That's a cop out. Accidents usually have multiple causes. The fact that proper PPO2 monitoring would have caught the issue doesn't change, in the least, the fact that having the O2 off is the cause. Of course they should be watching PPO2, but floating on the surface, waiting for a buddy to jump...

    Recommendations for Nautilus/lifeline?

When I dove with Nautilus last year, they had lifelines for sale at a big discount - $100 if I remember. A perk of the trip. If you don't have one or buy one, they give you one to use. Great units. I have the old style that includes voice comms. They are worth more than new now because being...

Scubapro Balanced Power Inflator(BPI) Worth the cost?

Fair enough. I suppose it's what you're used to. What I like about a tech inflator is the same thing - my hand goes straight to the controls - thumb on exhaust and middle finger on inflate. I haven't had any problem with precision, even on CCR, which puts a premium on it. But what works...

Scubapro Balanced Power Inflator(BPI) Worth the cost?

Gotta ask.... I get that it may be OEM when you buy a SP BCD, but sounds like OP is looking to buy this LPI as an "upgrade." WHY do you prefer it? What is the feature that justifies such a price premium?

Scubapro Balanced Power Inflator(BPI) Worth the cost?

Personally, I don't like any of the inflators with the buttons on the side. I don't think that is ergonomic at all. I haven't used the BPI, but just looking at it I can tell I wouldn't like it. Between my various rigs and those of my family, I have probably a dozen BCDs or wings. Every one...

Post-Hydro and O2 cleaning for AL cylinders - "Crystal" or "Aircraft & Precision" Simple Green?

Might be worth checking to see if the hydro facility offers oxygen cleaning as well. Where I get my cylinders hydro'd, you can have the cylinder chemically cleaned to O2 standards at the same time.

Shearwater Teric as a Daily Watch

I use mine as a watch on dive trips though it is larger than I'd want for daily wear at home. You can leave the screen off except when you check it - just one button press - and the battery use is inconsequential. If you leave the screen on, even in watch mode, then 50 hours sounds about right...
