    New Newfie

You are lucky to be diving there, I've dove a few times with Rick. The wrecks are great dives to do once you get qualified. Even the shore dives I found to be fun, catching and releasing lobster and chasing around some of the fish, the Bell is also a good dive. You can find a lot of divers meet...

    Alum or Steel backplate?

I can and have used three diiferent tank set-ups in the last two years, single , doubles and rebreather. I went with a steel and have the additional side plates that can be added to the plate. I use a crushed neoprene drysuit and thick underwaer for the cold water I have been in, both fresh and...

Has anyone been on Kona Aggressor?

I was on there last year just after the islands were getting high waves from a storm. The surge was quite strong so it was a different experience for me. Swinging anywhere from four to eight feet was a challege. The dive sites were O.K. but didn't see much for larger creatures. We were able to...

    Equipment failure management

I would check out some of the GUE or DIR stuff or the teck or solo sections. You will find there is a lot on having redundant equipment is case sh_t happens.

Thinking about a compressor - I have questions...

I also went for a RIX gas powered. I wanted the convience of not having to find a shop or fire hall and wait for the tanks to get filled, if they have the time. With it being oilless you can pump nitrox and not have to worry about the chance of oil from the compressor getting into the comprssor...

suggestions for a dive trip to BC

I have dove the wrecks and they are a must do, for anyone that is going there. There are also quite a few nice dive sites in the bay. One I really enjoyed was wolf eel hotel, we found quite a few wolf eels and a couple of the giant octopus, they weren't huge but still a good size.

Weights & weight belt question - Newbie

You may want to look at a harness similar to the DUI Weight and Trim, I have used one and find that supporting the weight on your shoulders is much easier and you are not having to keep the belt tight on your waist. I used to almost have a belt fall off if I did not re-tighten it at depth.

    Rebreather Try Dive

I just finished my Meg training in Nanaimo, diving the Saskatewan and Cape Breton ships. I would highly recommend more people try out the units. The diving was great, and wanted to stay for a few more days but had to get back to work. Hopefully can get out there again in a few months.

    Request for sticky to classifieds

When shipping to Canada When shipping an item to Canada it is better to send by using the post office rather than a courier. I have been able to get some excellent used equipment from members in the states. The problem is usually with shipping cost. I have no problem paying a customs/duty...
