Happy Friday- looking for shops in the Miami area that will fill an LP tank to ~3K.
Please do not hijack this thread and turn it into a debate about overfilling vs not.
Thanks!
Not really what I'm asking.
I know that alcohol and diving don't mix and I'm sure we could sit here all day and list the hundreds of dangerous reasons why. I'm curious as to how it became such a strict rule.
Hey everyone,
I'm curious as to alcohol's history within the sport of diving.
I'm pretty certain that all of us certified in the past decade have heard from the get go that the two don't mix, but I'm wondering how the "no alcohol before diving" rule came about. Was there a string of incidents...
It's time for a new wetsuit and I've been looking at Henderson's Thermaxx.
Does anyone know if there is any significant difference between their thermaxx & their normal thermoprene?
Thermaxx seems about twice the price and while it has a few nicer details I can't tell if it will actually keep...

Medical Examiner rules Rob Stewart's cause of death as "drowning after succumbing to acute lack of oxygen — or hypoxia."
Great, thank you all for your advice.
We are currently leaning towards a PG cruise and then staying a few days afterwards in the Tuomotos. @Wingy It seems that there is no ferry in between Fakarva & Rangiroa. Do you think it would be worth diving on both islands or are they fairly similar...
Hello,
I'm looking at taking a cruise with a couple other people of Summer 2018 to see Tahiti and her outlying islands. We're all fairly experienced divers and would like to see the "must-sees" as well as get a feel for the life of the area. We're from S. Florida, so I'm not sure how comparable...
sidemount or backmount?
Cavern/Intro is great in FL
Full is great in mexico (more complicated caves)
I can personally recommend Edd Sorenson & Dan Patterson. Edd Sorenson is West of Tallahassee so may be within a decent distance to you
I dive double Faber LP 85s and absolutely love them.
If you can get them reasonably overfilled, even to 3k, doesn't need to be a 3.6k cave fill, they are fantastic tanks. I regularly dive them to 150/160 feet for 30-45 minute bottom time.
They are lighter than and smaller than other tanks so...
I apologize if this is in the incorrect section.
I'm wondering if anyone is aware of something like a Wikipedia for diving? I don't mean a website with 20 or 30 articles. I mean something with hundreds of articles, especially links to good articles written by individuals in the industry.
It...
I'm going up to cave country first weekend of May to try some on. I'm not really sure what to look for when trying them on as I've never used one previously.
Should I look for bagginess in certain areas?
Hello everyone,
I'm going to be purchasing a drysuit in the next few months. I'm buying one because my dives in caves are getting to the length where I'm beginning to get cold and because I want to be able to perform decompression dives in the winter without worrying about being too cold on...
Does anyone know what capacity Stewart's dive partners were diving in that day.
Were they diving as instructors? Were they paid guides? Or were they just acting as a standard buddy? In my opinion, their role makes a big difference in liability. I think everyone can agree that paid instructors...
I understand that the greater the difference between the Nitrogen in your system and the Nitrogen in the mix the faster you will off gas. (Big simplification, but you get the point)
What I'm wondering is if pure O2 has any additional benefits because there is absolutely no Nitrogen in the mix...
Oh great. What is the best way to get in touch with you?
A buddy and I are coming down in a couple weeks (both full cave/adv wreck) and would love to set something up with you.
