"I think the main issue was my ill preparedness coming into the training, not realizing how fast paced it was..."
Not supposed to be fast-paced. Find a cooler instructor and go 1 on 1. You'll be fine.
My suggestions:
1. A day in up in the park. Dive Bartol, Wayaka, and Slagbaai (go left).
2. The unofficial sites above the oil refinery ending at Playa Frans. Surreal landscapes of hard coral. Look for piles of rocks with sticks in them on the shore.
3. In at la Dania, out at Karpata.

Diving is not really a sport, more of a leisure activity, so.....relax. I do not say that flippantly. Relaxing is very important to diving well and enjoyably.
If you have no fear of being underwater, nor are claustrophobic, you may be able to exorcise your insecurity. When I did my practical OW...
Wannadive for tanks is good. (AB for pickup rentals).
Boat dives to Klien or the Wild Side (Bonaire East Coast Diving) could add to the mix.
Bas Tol is a very knowledgable shore dive guide.
You can add some air to the bcd anytime to increase your buoyancy at depths, sort of what it's for from my understanding.
You will figure out the weighting with experience; don't worry - you're probably not too far off.
But trim seems to be your primary problem. Consider shifting your weights...
I am a Canadian from Quebec. When having travelled and met new people, the assumption of my being an American happened from time to time. The similarity of our spoken English is generally the clue they take. An honest mistake, and never one that bothered me. It did bother me a little however the...
Canadians (like me) never refer to ourselves as Americans, as citizens of the USA do. Nor do we take any offense as far as I have noticed from United States of America(n)'s doing so. Most people take the abbreviation without a problem, unless I suppose they are looking for one.
Pre-dive weight check works fine if you do it properly. As does proper finning technique and trim for efficient swimming. Keep diving; you will figure it all out for yourself eventually, like everyone else.
"With the bolt snap attached to the second stage swivel."
is deleteable?
A new diver can learn from this, simply by asking what the items mentioned are, or using a search engine.
They will learn these thing eventually anyway.
In the name of civility a genuine apology for the error is in...
I tend to agree somewhat that damage caused by inattentive divers, as frustrating to see as it is, is not the prime driver in reef degradation. Also somewhat skeptical that changes to the earth's global climate patterns are either; living reefs will adapt to water temperature changes over time...
I am 55. I am an enthusiastic scuba ambassador to anyone that I speak with for more than a few minutes. I show photos and videos, and describe with passion the utter beauty and tranquility. Generally, a common inquiry once I have made the sales pitch is the cost. A few hundred for training, a...
Eat light and keep moving. Think of food as medicine; take it only when you need it, and never close to bedtime. And no sugar. Be realistic in your goals - you're 60.
