That sucks. I personally know people who arrived through Hurghada without a test and were allowed to take it in the airport on arrival. For Cairo you do need a test taken less than 72 hours before you arrive.
Haven't tried them myself but everyone I know who has strongly recommends www.redsea-divingsafari.com
Two of their three locations are south of Marsa Alam
Not part of instructing per se but the thing that pisses me off the most is instructors/guides not respecting the environment, holding corals and wrecks etc... The new divers won’t know any better and will make a habit of it themselves
Other than that you should never pressure the student. If...
It’s technically possible but it would be a very long and tiring day. You’re better off staying in Sharm and doing one day of Dahab diving; it’s shore diving so you won’t be spending time on the boat trip or be bound by their schedule
I think you should do both Dahab and Sharm El Sheikh if you can, especially since you have no plans for returning to the Red Sea in the future. You'll pass by Dahab on your way to Sharm anyway and it's only a 45 minute drive away :)
I love Dahab itself a lot more than Sharm + it's much more...
Do you mind sharing why? I’m considering getting into Tec diving sometime in the future and they were one of my choices.
ScubaSeekers is both tec/rec and within walking distance. Can’t speak for the Tec part but I did my PADI AOW there and would recommend
I'm also considering getting the TG-5. I would appreciate if any of you can share a sample of some of the photos they took (and if possible specify if you were using extra accessories)
The samples I've seen online were all great but they were all from websites that want to sell you one...
Nice photography, keep it up!
I did 9 dives in 2017, all in Dahab, Egypt
Got nitrox certified and got one of my best friends to try scuba diving for the first time =)
Wow I never thought the thread would get this many responses!
I don’t have time right now to respond to individual replies but I’ll get to it soon. I think I’ll postpone the 40m dive to next time and focus on trying to plan my own dives in detail in this trip as preparation... (better safe...
Thanks for everyone's advice. I'll definitely take it all into consideration =)
The majority were what you call trust me dives. I will have an experienced guide with me on this one as well but I didn't want that to affect the answers I got. I'd rather not run into any problems in the first...
I'm going on a dive trip in a couple of days and one of the dives I want to do will be at 40m.
I've done 32 dives, 7 of which have been at 30m (100ft), with one at 35m. I have a PADI AOW certificate where the recommended depth is 30m. The dive will be on air.
Do you think I have enough...
Do you have any idea if this will affect their online logbook? It seems to be working fine and under the Diviac name not PADI
EDIT: Found the annoucement. They say the logbook will "remain independent for now" (under logbook.diviac.com)
I would do AOW first. There are a lot of sites that are accessible from Sharm (and I assume Hurghada) where you would have a decent chance of spotting hammerheads and other sharks, and a friend of mine saw a Manta on a house reef in Sharm El Sheikh.
I don't think it's fair to call the project a fail this early. The exhibition was quite popular and if he actually decides to sell the pieces he will definitely make more than $50 million...
I enjoyed the film and while I knew it was a "mockumentary" I managed to suspend my disbelief for...
I don't think the Blue Hole is worth going to Dahab for if you're only doing it recreationally. It's a great dive but given the time constraints I'd stick to Sharm
