    "Quick Hydro"

Umm, well, why don't you tell us where this dive shop is? Most of the shops in Tampa, that I'm aware of, send them out. One shop in Sarasota seems to do them onsite.......

    "Quick Hydro"

I guess people just don't understand that 95% of dive shops, after you drop off your tanks, send the tanks to a facility like a fire service. I just had four tanks hydro'd at the place I linked to..... about $18.00 per tank.

    "Quick Hydro"

Can't really help in your area, but you might try fire extinguisher services instead of dive shops. This is the place I have used for the last 15 years for hydro's: Tampa, FL - Protegis Fire & Safety They do hydro's on Thursday's, drop off on Wed, pick up on Friday. Also, about half the...

Name this Blenny (Florida waters), please

Funny, I didn't catch it earlier, there appears to be two fish in the photo. Not a jawfish on the upper middle rock, and possibly a jawfish on the rock at the bottom of the photo...

Is it easy to find the reef at Lauderdale-By-The Sea and is it worth it?

I've been to Lauderdale-by-the-sea, it's worth a trip. Another place, maybe not so well known, is Vista Park. A few miles south, down the road. Huge tract of large gorgonians and a reef to the SE that has acropora and staghorn in as little as ten feet.

Cruise Ships Banned in Key West

You do know that there is free parking in KW, you just have to know where they are.......... Ridiculous.............., a town that survives on tourism, banning tourists........... I guess next...., they'll stop their daily TV ads, in Tampa, asking people to come down and visit Key West. Maybe...

Relocating to the Great State of Florida

You forgot, panthers, fire ants, palmetto bugs, love bugs (twice a year), saltwater crocs and skunk monkeys and, you know, hanging chads...........

    Tampa Bay Area shore dive?

I think the two that are most talked about are Spanish Rocks and the Regina wreck, AKA the Sugar Barge. I've never done Spanish Rocks, but, did dive the Regina many years ago from my own boat, so can't give much detail about the shore dive part. Most of the barge was gone except for the bow...

RV options for florida ( probably keys)

Up until hurricane Irma, one of our favorite spots was Sugarloaf KOA. Twenty miles north of Key West and about seven miles south of Looe Key Reef Resort. We could dive with Looe Key Resort in the morning and hit Key West for night time fun...... Unfortunately, they are still rebuilding and...

    Blue Heron Bridge Trolls III

You can dive the site without a guide. But as the others are saying, a holiday weekend there will be a circus... Be prepared to show up at about 6am to get a spot to park for the 2:00pm high tide....:surrender:

    Dive shop around Tampa

The Tampa/St Petersburg area is pretty vast. Knowing exactly where you will be would be helpful. There are many shops in the area. An interesting place with a good selection is Bill Jackson's shop for adventure. It's located in Pinellas Park, but, there are good shops all over the a Tampa area.

New Rules for Blue Heron Bridge

I don't know the answer you seek. However, lobsters have a "season". Banded coral shrimp do not, as well as most other tropicals. In addition, lobsters are a food source, lawnmower blennies, not so much.

Cozumel or West Palm Beach, Florida for drift diving in Janauary/February?

It's been many years since we have been to Cozumel. However, drifting on the Santa Rosa Wall was spectacular. Drifting along at about 80' deep, corals, fish and other marine life all along the wall. Straight down nothing but the blue abyss below and straight up the blue sky above. Nothing...

    Key West dive shop

If you want great reef diving, my advice would be to stop at Looe Key Reef Resort, it's been a few years since we've been there, but Looe Key reef is fantastic.

FL Keys resorts with on site dive ops??

Are you looking for a luxury resort that offers diving on-site? Or are you looking for a place that you don't need to drag your wet gear back to the room?

LBTS, other places, for shore diving, practicing photography

We made our way over there twice last year. First visit, first day, tried to enter at Datura Ave. But the surf was too rough. The second day was better, but I don't think we went out far enough and it was so-so. The second visit we did three days of consecutive diving. We used Vista Park as...

    New Diver in the Keys

If you don't mind the 45 minute trip or so, Looe Key is an excellent shallow water dive, most of the reef is in 15 to 20 feet of water. Looe Key resort's boat is a wide catamaran so it's a nice stable ride.
