Not for fixing the leak, but when I don/doff my gloves, I hold the suit side ring with my off hand, clench my fist and rotate my wrist to lock the bayonet. Might take some of the stress off your suit seal?

Plus, your set up for single, you don’t need to put anything through the grommet hole, it’s just there so a doubles bolt will fit, it’s not to secure the webbing to the plate.

I think another point worth noting, once you have your own gear, you dive more often. Most of my diving is local, so maybe it doesn’t apply, but if I had to rent gear to go dive the St. Clair River and have it line up with a good vis day, I’d never do it.
