We were booked for Anthony's Key Resort in Roatan for 3/28 through 4/4, coming from NYC. AKR did a good job keeping booked guests informed as the situation evolved. Ultimately they allowed us to rebook at our fully paid 2020 rate for any time through the end of 2021. This was the offer made to...
Although I've been happy with my Cressi Travelight jacket style BCD it has become too big for me. Rather than replace it with a smaller size I'd like to switch to a back inflate style and I'm considering getting the Scubapro Seahawk II. I've done some research, and it seems this BCD has a...

I was wrestling with this issue too when planning a week long dive trip. I'm a new diver, and although I already used the neoprene mask strap the hair past that strap (at temples) was still getting ripped and the length of my hair was a rats nest using a braided ponytail. I have long curly hair...
We were at AKR last week. We paid $750 total round trip on American, JFK/NYC to MIA/Miami, then MIA to Roatan. Flights were on Saturday both ways. Avianca had slightly better rates, but we were reluctant to make transfers in Guatemala.
Room sharing tip: We were in Key Deluxe room 48. Note that...
I just wanted to follow up with my experience using the quattro plus fins, which were the fins I purchased. I'm very happy with them. They are long, so i travelled with them in my checked baggage where they fit easily and straight. I used them in Roatan, Belize and Cozumel. They felt...
We are back from the cruise and things went pretty well. The was a core group of about 14 divers that dove in Roatan, Belize and Cozumel. About half were pretty experienced and the rest were newbies like my boyfriend and I (just out of OW certification dives). The experienced divers were very...

To the OP, thanks for posting this. I got my OWC 6 months ago, and leave in a week for a cruise where I've booked dives in Roatan, Belize and Cozumel. My certification dives were so much fun, and the dives we did later on that trip were great too. I have been concerned about what to expect on...
I spoke with my friend's local instructor, and although i haven't tried them in water i think I'm going with the mares quattro plus. As for the x-streams, I was suspicious of the lifespan of the hinge and reports of the center channel seperating from the colored portion of the blade. I...
Yes, they are on the pricier side for sure. But the responses above have been very helpful. One of the dive shops offered to let me take a pair to try, but i don't really have access to a pool. I'm going on a cruise where we intend to do some diving, so maybe I'll rent a pair for that trip...
I'm not really seeking hinged fins, but the x-stream is what both shops suggested. I haven't had a chance to try them, but I'm actually suspicious that the hinge might make the fins easier to move due to less resistance, but that ease would sacrifice propulsion.

I'm a recently certified diver (OWC) and am looking to get my own fins. I'm looking for powerful but efficient fins that are on the lighter side for travel. I'm not looking to race around, preferring to cruise along and see what's down there with minimal effort. But if a situation warrants...
