    Shore diving exiting water help

At Redondo I have good success with walking out backwards with fins on, timing so that a wave helps me up that step. A front crawl with reg in mouth works fine. Unless the surf is very calm I'd prefer to keep the fins on so I can walk or crawl out with my hands free. Also I keep a little air...

    New to diving in socal

Buddies: EcoDive, Pacific Wilderness, Hollywood Divers, PCH Scuba...all have clubs you can join. They have regular dives at local beaches, charter boats, and have mingle parties to meet other divers. Learning to dive local: Go to the LA County Rocks, Rips and Reefs beach diving courses! Next...

Perdix AI v65: Old logs show N/A SAC

Good to hear, looking forward to the fix. Good to know the data is still in the logs, just not being displayed. I just ran the Subsurface android app and downloaded an old old log from the Perdix AI with v65 firmware. Pressure data is there and the app calculates SAC with it just fine...

Perdix AI v65: Old logs show N/A SAC

Seems like there is a bug in the computer's dive log viewer with the v65 firmware. On v53 firmware I was able to view logs on the Perdix AI and see tank pressures and SAC numbers in the log viewer. After upgrading to v65 firmware, the log viewer shows N/A for all items (T1 Start, T1 end, T2...

    Sandstorm On The Reef

Do you climb down from the top of Honeymoon cove or by boat? That climb seems dicey!

Great pictures, Phil! Where exactly is Halfway Reef, anyway?

    ceiling/GF

I am also confused about how GFLo is used on a Shearwater. Does the Shearwater "anchor" GF lo using the deepest depth, and then interpolate GF between lo and hi based on depth / max depth? If that's the case, then is GF lo what defines the NDL? According to this post from Shearwater, they...

    ceiling/GF

@doctormike, your suggestion to add a line below the ambient pressure line, is illustrated in this post as the "inspired inert pressure" line: Why plan decompression with a Gf (lo)?

    Diving Without BCD

One of the firsts posts on diver.net is a treatise of sorts on the way of the California hunter: A California Diving Culture - Lets start it out right... There's some mention of no-BC diving as well. It's certainly interesting to be on a boat with these guys.

Suggestion Threaded posts (within a thread)

Vbulletin hybrid mode looks like linear mode but with a section at the top of each page of posts showing a tree of post subject lines. This forum has the feature enabled, you can switch between linear/threaded /hybrid mode: Weight and balance numbers - VAF Forums I can see why people might not...

Suggestion Threaded posts (within a thread)

If you've never ventured onto reddit, may I present a random post on /r/scuba: Towing 4 days of gear! • r/scuba I call attention to the crucial features that I feel SB could really use: each post is indented below its parent (and has a link to its parent), there are collapse [-] and expand [+]...

Suggestion Threaded posts (within a thread)

I went looking and came across this very interesting collection of posters emphatically against threaded mode: [No thanks] Threaded Mode? Who knew? Not me. Then again, I spend a lot of time on reddit, which presents a very uncluttered and simple-to-use threaded interface. People talk about...

Suggestion Threaded posts (within a thread)

Is there a way to make this forum show replies in a tree view within a thread? I have searched and I think there is no way to do it. I think this feature would immensely improve the flow of conversations on SB. As we all have experienced, a long thread on SB quickly devolves into confusion and...

12 boys lost in flooded Thai cave

I hope that the cave divers could discuss their dive in detail with a diver audience in mind, rather than a general audience for documentary purposes. As a rescue diver having no tech or cave experience but having read so much about it, I have so many questions about the planning and equipment...

Need DS Undergarment for cold water wimp in SoCal

Looking at the Fourth Element Arctic, what are the pros and cons of two piece vs one piece? In my mind, the two piece seems more versatile but has the potential to gap in the midriff. Thoughts appreciated as always.

Need DS Undergarment for cold water wimp in SoCal

Thanks for the advice. I'm not the original poster, but I've narrowed in on the fourth element arctic and a merino base layer. Looking at these: Lapasa Men’s Merino Wool Thermal Sets Midweight Base Layer Top & Bottom M31 (Medium, Black)...

    Data Consistency

Does the Android app discard data from the downloaded logs? I notice that the same dive downloaded from the Perdix AI to the Windows desktop app appears to have more data points than when downloaded using the Android Shearwater app.

Need DS Undergarment for cold water wimp in SoCal

In the same situation as you, and same location (SoCal - redondo, PV, channel islands, catalina, etc). Trying to find something that works with a Fusion Bullet suit. A friend of mine with the same suit, who admits to getting cold easily, uses just the Arctic around here (no base layer). Not sure...

Need DS Undergarment for cold water wimp in SoCal

Is the Bearwear suit referring to the drysuit undergarment? What's it made of? Do you have any other layers over/under it?
