    Comments re: Wrist Computers

You will have the information more conveniently located, streamlined and less prone to physically damaging situations......and then there is the cool look and travel portability factor.

    Ouestion about resort scuba course.

Often you can join a relative on their open water certification dives for these NAUI or PADI resort courses. The resort is usually more that happy to collect a dive fee from you and the student has the confidence that comes from having someone (certified) that they know and trust near them. (It...

BELIZE is incredible and I am dying to go back........

Ramon's is a great place and rather fun (with it's kitchy decor) but I recommend eating elsewhere (in terms of price and flavor).

    Just Finished Shadow Divers

While not quite as exciting as the book, it is definitely worth watching their TV show, Deep Sea Detectives.

    Aeris Barracuda UltraDry Snorkel

It is an excellent (conventional) snorkel. I had one; which I lost on a wreck dive. (I know.....it is an old story.) Needless to say, I graduated on to a foldable snorkel, which spends most of its dive time in my BC pocket.

    Forced descent in Blue Hole

The "Blue Hole" is a unique dive. I was there around New Years. As mentioned in previous posts, a rapid descent is required to ensure an adequate bottom time at the cavern level. My maximum depth on that dive was 137 feet. I went with an unmentioned other dive operation, whose passengers had to...

    CSSP Trip report 4/1/06

The shark is the signature feature of CSSP. Local divers should definintely check it out when they are ready (based on experience and comfort level).

    snorkel use

A "foldable (bendable) snorkel located in a BC pocket" is the preferred option in my opinion. Check out the Tusa Platina hyperdry snorkel.

    Hamilton Pool

I heard rumors of Water Moccasin problems in that area. Is there any truth to those stories?

    Brands brands

Bare makes a great suit at a reasonable price. Fit, seals and zipper quality/configuration are what I pay attention to. However, I do wish Bare offered a key pocket.

    Help with Belize

I second this recommendation but I also suggest eating in town. Ramon's food is overpriced and somewhat bland. The dive operation, the bar, the accomodations, the amenities and the convenient location are excellent.

    Headed for Belize

I was there for ten days in late December. The people, food and diving are great. I highly recommend that little backwater country. Ecotourism, centering around Mayan ruins and diving, are the main attractions. Have a wonderful trip.

    Hoseless Transmitters

I keep my transmitter permanently attached to my reg first stage. However, when it is not in use, I keep the whole assembly well protected in a thoroughly padded reg bag.

    Weights for integrated pockets

I agree, the "yellow thingies" are great for a Zeagle BC. The "Sea Pearls" brand soft weights are very effective and you will really appreciate the difference the first time you ever drop one on your foot. eyebrow

    Belize Travel Advice

I stayed at Ramon's at the end of December and I think that the place gets an undeserved "bum" rap on this board. It offers extreme convenience, very good service, good rooms, a fun bar and kitchy "tiki" decor. The dive operation is excellent and there are plenty of amenities. To be fair, the...

    Air Integrated?

"Air Integrated" is the final piece of the puzzle for complete analytics on a dive computer, since it monitors your gas and calculates your remaining dive time (factoring in nitrogen loading and remaining gas to your dive profile). It also permits more detailed PC downloadable dive profile...

    Atomic SS1 as inflator hose

My son and I both dive with Atomic SS1 (stainless steel) safe seconds, which combine the BC inflator and octo, along a single HP hose. We really like this streamlined configuration and strongly recommend it. The SS1 breathes well and performs reliably. However, breathing on the SS1, out of the...

    tank lights

I use the Princeton Tec "Eco Flare". They are cheap, bright, sturdy, available in several different light colors and have a long battery life. I strongly recommend these flashing (non-strobe) type tank lights.

    First Night Dive!!

It is a spooky but exciting experience. Good lights and good diving skills make a big difference.
