    Sticking snorkel valve lube?

And THIS is why I asked! Somewhere in the back of my mind there was something stopping me from using silicone on silicone...I think I had heard this before somewhere. Thanks much for replying. I'll try PTFE and if it doesn't fix it immediately I'll replace the snorkel.

    Sticking snorkel valve lube?

This particular design uses the weight of the float when its not under water to pull the flap open. It worked fine for dozens of times and then started having problems so it's not the "suck". I have a couple of others but they aren't as comfortable. Now that I've spent too much time messing...

    Sticking snorkel valve lube?

I washed it. Might be the silicone itself is going. I'll try the light silicone oil and if it happens again I'll swap to a new one. Thanks.

    Sticking snorkel valve lube?

It's a Sherwood Tiga and the valve is the dry valve or splash valve. It closes when you freedive or when you get covered by a wave. Then when you come up it opens. When it sticks it's right when you need a breath. I'll try some light silicone oil on the flap and see how it works. I'll...

    Sticking snorkel valve lube?

I wasn't asking a model specific question. Just what you use to lube a sticking silicone flap or seal.

    Sticking snorkel valve lube?

So I really like the snorkel I have for freediving (and just swimming around) but after quite a bit of use the silicone flap sticks closed occasionally. Of course it does this when you need air the most! Anyone have an idea on the best way to lube it? I've taken it apart and cleaned it...

First time to Los Cabos (Cabos San Lucas) -- basic questions...

Hi neighbor (North Bay), I was looking for this info a couple of months ago. We went for 10 days the second week of April. To get from the airport to your resort you need to exit straight out of the terminal without getting stopped by the time-share people and sucked in. Just ignore them...

Lion fish hunting in Cozumel ?

I always bring a small pole spear and remove any lionfish I see on shore dives. Usually the shallow ones are too small to do anything with other than kill and feed to anemones (or hungry eels, who seem to know to take them head first). I've found as many as five or six on a given shore dive...

    Shore dives in Cozumel

I've done a lot of shore dives at Blue Angel over the past two summers. One thing that you should know is that you can gear up and enter either at Blue Angel north (the main Blue Angel with the hotel) or you can do it at the south location which is only a short 5 min walk south. Choose which...

Accident on Southern Cal Oil Rigs Dive

Don't know if anyone else does this, but I use a custom molded mouthpiece on my primary second stage and a generic mouthpiece on my pony second stage. So if its super comfortable it's not my alternate.

    Cozumel shore diving?

Where did you do the shore dives? Gary

    Renting tanks and weights

I'd be surprised if you find any shore diving on the Riviera Maya side. The reef is too far offshore for a swim given the currents, and I tried and failed to find even decent shore snorkeling after two weeks there. Akumal, which is supposed to be cool for snorkeling, wasn't. They will only...

    Cozumel shore diving?

Took a look at Google Earth and it seems the two shipwrecks are clearly visible. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    Blue Angel Resort review

We stayed there for a week in July. Good accurate review. I dove with them multiple times and had good experiences, but they vary a bit depending on who the divemaster is. The shore diving is decent and free (it is Cozumel, and the shore diving is not particularly good anywhere), so I took...

Looking for BP/W harness setup for my father

I wonder if I could replace the plastic buckles on my OMS harness with those....hmmm....don't see why not.

Looking for BP/W harness setup for my father

If he wants releases, I can recommend an OMS (now owned by DUI) Comfort Harness II and a OMS backplate (doesn't need a STA). Should be $250 or so. I just got one and it's nice (but don't try to take a GUE/DIR course with it!)

May - June 2017 Roll Call

My first trip to Cozumel will be 6/26-6/30 (or 31st) then going over to PDC. I'm solo so I'll be doing some group dives (thinking Aldora) and I'm staying at Blue Angel. I'd love to do some afternoon shore diving to do photography/video. I'll probably solo, but would prefer a buddy even in...

    Lead Ammo!

To my knowledge, lead shot for waterfowl is still illegal everywhere. What they are allowing is lead bullet ammunition and lead fishing weights. Given the size of lead bullets and the number of rounds fired, the amount that might enter the environment is extremely small in comparison to...
