Fire on dive boat Conception in CA

we may all be resourceful and competent. If you’r stuck in that hole with 35 others and escape routes are blocked, panic etc. all resourcefulness will not help you. I would be ery surpised if these operations will continue unchallenged.

Fire on dive boat Conception in CA

Having been on a number of liveaboards, I remember that on several there was a clear statement as part of the safety briefing that it is absolutely prohibited to charge phones or batteries in the cabin. Only at the camera room/desk or other public areas where someone can react if something...

Fire on dive boat Conception in CA

Totally agree. Extremely arrogant statement. Like the FAA deciding to let the 737-MAX continue to fly after it was perfectly clear after the first accident that it was not fit to fly.

Fire on dive boat Conception in CA

If this terrible catastrophe does not change the way these boats are being operated / cramped-up with guests to the the last inch, then I dont know what else needs to happen... But then again, two 737-MAX had to fall from the sky before anyone bothered to act....

Fire on dive boat Conception in CA

For sure. Whoever thought it is "safe" to stow-away up to 40 tourists in such a confined space with just one steep escape ladder should probably think again.

Fire on dive boat Conception in CA

No insult. Just telling I would feel unsafe. Others may feel different

Fire on dive boat Conception in CA

Certainly not on those kind of boats. I prefer to spend a bit more and feel safe. And if I can‘t afford, I rather let go than put myself at risk. I know these kind of operations from Asia. but in the US??? Jee...

Anyone got info on the French Polynesia Master liveaboard, launching 2016?

Well, all those happy people with just 9 or 10 divers on that boat.... We were "fully loaded" with 25 divers and it resulted in a total mess. The dining area / lounge is nowhere near sizeable enough to fit 25 people. We were sitting on each others laps! "Camera room" (more of a junk-area) got...

Death in Cocos from shark attack

Austrian diver fatality- Natal South Africa

@DandyDon Maybe about time to correct the sensationalist and totally wrong headline of this topic? 1.) the effected diver was NOT German but Austrian 2.) the diver was almost certainly NOT KILLED BY A SHARK. I believe it would be responsibility of the the admins to keep this thread...

    Training!! I Need Training!!!

Doing good Video underwater is very hard. I had a hell of an uphill struggle - and still have. I think its the same for everyone and thats why many people give up and just do photo. So much easier! But thats the easy exit route you should not take! The only way to get better is to just keep...
