Snorkeling from shore - trip Anilao - Palawan

Those are the same requirements for us too, we spend 4-5months in the Philippines , scubadiving everyday would be too hard on us, therefore snorkeling is such a pleasant addition, relaxing and refreshing. So.Leyte was the paradise for both scuba and snorkeling, the shore line was full of...

ISO: Volunteering opportunities in the Philippines

It looks like these conservation groups are asking for a substantial amount of money ( not for lodging or food)on top of the free volunteer work. I recently enquired with the Coral reef and rainforest conservation Project out of Negros, they never replied to my requests but spoke with a diver...

    Southern Leyte

I really loved the shallow coral gardens on the west side of Sogod Bay, and too bad that never had a chance to see the ones on the East side around Napantao towards Liloan, so many hours of snorkeling day and night, so sad, but most are gone, a few patches have survived South of the...

    Tacloban to Sogod transfert

I just did that trip two weeks ago, and I too didn't want to pay 5k for a one way trip to P.Burgos. My plan was to take a taxi 300php to the Van Van terminal in Tacloban, from there one can hop in a minivan and go all the way to Maasin, departure every 30 minutes, and it costs around 400php. If...

Travel to the Philippines in 2022?

From the past experience in 2020, things were so complicated by the different rules imposed by local, state and federal governments , all having there own idea and often conflicting with each other. I see in the news , that officials are still very strict with those who test positive for covid...

Travel to the Philippines in 2022?

Sorry, no "our kind" of tourists allowed to enter Philippines still : "Only a small demographic of foreigners can currently visit the Philippines, and from February, they will need to be fully vaccinated. This includes people with pre-existing visas, those registered under the Balikbayan...

Travel to the Philippines in 2022?

Those who have not had the omicron and travel to destinations that require a PCR prior to arrival take a lot of chances. A positive test(chances are very high), will be reported to the public health authorities which will require mandatory isolation often in a government approved location...

Travel to the Philippines in 2022?

I truly feel for those small businesses that invested in the Philippines and the other S.Asian countries, especially the travel industry, 3rd year income loss compounded by interest on loans, maintenance costs, taxes etc. Useless restrictions imposed by countries that in the end achieve close to...

Typhoon Odette Effect on a Coral Reef in Dauin

Thank you for sharing the video and the info. I assume the effects on the reef around Apo island would be similar? I've been waiting for reports re. damage on reefs in Sogod Bay. The shallow gardens in 4m and up close to shore, on the West side of the Bay, was told that were completely gone😭

    Please help Southern Leyte

This subforum was the busiest pre covid with dreamers like me thinking of the adventures of the past and planning new ones for the future. Those who have been in Southern Leyte must've seen the conditions the guides and their families lived in. Most of them lived in soft material structures...
