I experienced something similar during a class I was taking last weekend. My heart would start palpitating on me randomly, which is kinda scary when you're in deep with low viz. It went away once I managed to go to my happy place and start to enjoy the dive.
I've had it happen multiple times...
Everyone I know with this setup puts a D-ring on the right hip and clips it off to there with a breakaway attachment. Reach shouldn't be a problem if your octo hose is '40 and the harness at your waistline. Give it a try.
I think putting a couple weight pockets on the cam bands like Doby45 said will be fine considering you don't use that much weight (I like the XS brand ones). It'd be much better to have weight pockets and not need weight than to have no pockets and end up needing weight.
Redundancy. It's reassuring to have two independent tanks under your arms where you can get to them easily. For this reason I prefer sidemount when diving solo. It also trims out nicely once you have your rig dialed in. And of course... you will look cool.
Honestly though for a fun recreational...
Hello all, I'll probably be getting my first set of Dive Rite fins in the near future. I currently wear size XXL Jet fins for both wetsuit boots & drysuit w/chucks. Based on this, anyone know what size would be appropriate?
In terms of quality? Pretty much. They're all hunks of stainless steel that weigh about 6lbs. The only differences are shape, finish and the brand name.
If I pay over $200 for a steel backplate, it better have decorative neon lights and a vibrating back massage function.
I second this. You're bound to get overloaded with answers here. Just head to your local dive shop and tell them what you need, what kind of money you're willing to spend, and let a professional help get you fitted. Welcome to the family!
