Rred... I see your point about the extra weight... but... Twinsets definitely beat the singles in safety. Speaking more than just air volume of course, the manifold immediately adds a margin of safety for the redundant air source. Ability to isolate a failed reg and safely ascend on you're own...
GUE teaches Single Tank, Doubles, and Sidemount for OC. All with training that includes stage bottles and proper rigging. Keep your single wing and STA. It will come in handy.
Basically, have fun with nailing buoyancy in all of the standard equipment configurations. Dive them all to develop...
I prefer a wrist mount on the left wrist.
Forget all the gimmicky compasses. Expensive ones mounted to slates, on retractors, doofers and gizmos... all just waiting to get entangled, broken, lost...
Wrist mount basic compass. Pick your brand... so long as it's an actual diving compass. Easy...
Congrats on your IE pass Ducky! We all start somewhere. It's all in what you decide to become now. A crotchety curmudgeon, or a genuinely helpful instructor. Stay a student yourself and keep learning. There's some great folks on SB from which to glean wisdom. You'll see them shine through...
