I have been to Browning Pass 4 different times. In my experience If the whales are in the boat operator has taken us out near the whales between dives. I would not miss a day of diving to kayak. I would go for an evening paddle and then go for the night dive. Just an FYI, my favorite times...

4th element makes a really good 5mm glove, the dexterity is really good. Waterproof also makes a great glove, I don't think the dexterity is quite as good. For myself, I dive dry gloves.

I loan and see things loaned often. People forget a small item or newbie has a leaking hose. I can't imagine having gear and not helping someone out. A risk I can live with.

My experience with Ikelite's customer service and repair has been great. I would call them and see if they have ideas for you. It sounds like you need to get the rubber replacement tips for the inside of the buttons. They have kits for different models of housings.
