Yes, I've been happy with it. Yes you'll get a wider fov with it too. FWIW, I originally tried to order the backscatter lense. They didn't have it in stock so I went with the UWL-04 for an upcoming dive trip. I couldn't be happier.
I have the AOI UWL-04 which I use with my tg5 and pt-058 housing. You can zoom thru with the uwl-04. The biggest difference between the backscatter lense and the uwl-04 is the vignetting that occurs with the uwl-04 when zoomed all the way out. Basically you need to be zoomed in a few clicks to...
I like the rechargeable battery in my ix3m tech+ gps. It has plenty of power and no chance of flooding. Same with the AI transmitters. The display and compass are great too. Some of the additional apps I'll never use. I like being able to change the GF during the dive. I can start a dive...
The fin strap isn't an issue for me. The strap naturally stays around the sole at least in my case. I also wear dry fit socks with them when I dive. That helps avoid pressure from the laces and irritation from sand. I picked these up after meeting a group in Bonaire wearing them.
I wear these (Columbia super vent III water shoe) in Bonaire and highly recommend them. Water in the shoe drains out thru the vents in the sole. They're light and dry fast. They're slightly positive so they dont do well with neutral fins like the Deep 6 eddy fin.
I dive a ranger in warm water and love it. I usually wear a rash guard shirt and swim trunks. I dive with al80 and a back mounted 14 or 19cuft pony tank using the zeagle straps. I weigh 190 and only have to use 3lbs of weight with this configuration.
