    Best BCDs in XXL?

If found a shop to try some on, might I suggest you also request to try it on with a tank mounted. Can give you a better idea how comfortable it will be for a shore dive walk-in, etc etc. I am over 45, so my knees need to know what it is going to put up with.

    Shearwater Perdix AI

It leaves it up to you. I generally leave 1000 PSI for my ascent/stop. I change the value depending upon my planned dive. I always dive with a pony for those oh **** moments.

Oceanic Geo /Veo as 1st computer?

I would suggest the GEO 2. It was my second dive computer. My first was the Dive Rite Nitek. I liked the smaller form factor of the GEO 2 and used it as a watch with my work clothes. An added bonus was people would ask me about the Geo 2. They could never identify the watch or maker. Kinda like...

    Shearwater Perdix AI

Good points. I have learned today that both my computers will be telling my something different when they display GTR. I guess I will be using my Perdix and Perdix AI when I dive. TX1 goes to the closet. Gotta have both defining GTR the same for safety sake.

I have or have owned 2 AI dive computers in addition to my Perdix AI (have not dove with it yet) the Aeris A300CS OLED and the Hollis TX1 AI dive computers. Aeris calls it Air Time Remaining (ATR) and Hollis calls it Gas Time Remaining (GTR). Aeris Manual pg 25. "ATR is the time you can remain...

    Best BCDs in XXL?

I would first suggest inspecting prospective BCDs. Some like the Black Ice has shoulder adjustments you can lengthen or shorten to provide a better fit for various torso sizes. Also some waist bands are doubled over so that they can be lengthened easily for larger midsections (thinking of the...

    Shearwater Perdix AI

As a Rec diver, I am not sure why people are concerned about the GTR. Back Story: The dive boats I ride limit each dive to an hour and you have to return with >= 500 PSI. I always set my AI computer to 1000 PSI. I can do an hour dive at 60ft and come up to the surface after my safety stop with...

    Shearwater Perdix AI

@Kevrumbo I read your profile. I noticed you went thru GUE for your open water (OW). When I went thru OW with Padi, we used a wheel to plan dives. Many OW divers use computers when learning how to dive nowadays. I also noticed your profile does not list any instructor certifications. Which...

    Shearwater Perdix AI

You can get it cheaper online. I have seen $1175 Perdix AI with 1 transmitter,$935 Perdix AI no transmitter, and $849 Perdix. I just support my LDS when I can. I got my Perdix for $799 before the Canadian dollar changed. I am still debating selling my Perdix since I have a Hollis TX1 as a...

Best Way to Buy a Dry Suit?

Try multiple suits on. The only true way to know exactly how a version feels. Sizing is everything.

I bought the Perdix AI yesterday evening. I was able to pair it with both of my MH8A transmitters from Hollis. I can post a picture when I get home from work tonight.

When I used the Highland back mount, I found it easier to maintain trim by moving three pounds from one side to the other.

How much have you spent on gear?

Diving since 1999. Spent $11600+ in the last 12 months alone in equipment. No rebreathers. No vehicles (because my new car is used more for transportation to work than dives). No dive trips.

Did ScubaBoard sweep the Solo forum under the rug again?

I only show 2 cert cards. My Surface Marker Buoy Speciality Diver and my Self Reliant Speciality Diver cards. I sometimes have to show I have over 100 dives and I did not bring my logbook and that I can get my sausage to point up and be fully inflated. The ladies dig that.

OK, 'fess up.... the Dark Side of Solo...

I never got to become an astronaut like I always wanted to. Diving to the bottom, clipping my fins to a lanyard and picking up 10lbs of rocks helps me practice my moon walking skills without being judged by anyone except the Japanese tourist divers being lead by their DM.

New Aqua Lung i750tc Dive Computer

To offset the glare problems, I wore my Aeris A300CS OLED in the manner as shown by the awesome Paint drawing. The battery life sucked (20-30). There is however a rechargeable battery available on eBay.

Did ScubaBoard sweep the Solo forum under the rug again?

I am guessing they just changed the name since I got my PADI Self Reliant certification in 2015. I even have a pdf copy of the Self-Reliant Distinctive Speciality Course Instructor Guide dated 2011.
