Anyone interested in Splitting a boat rental on Northern Lake George

This is the time for maximum clarity up in the North end, barring any rain. There will be two thermoclines, probably 20 and 35-40 feet, with 35-40 feet being below 50 as I recall....unmistakenly visible too. Since I am a wetsuit diver, I certainly remember the head freeze even with a hood but...

    Diving with seals in NH

I tried to do this trip last year, but the boat broke down the night before. Nonetheless the shop loaded me up with free air after I completed two dives at Nubble. Keep us posted, I would like to do this before memorial day. Last I checked the coastal water temperature was just above 60. Any...

Cape Cod Bay, Wellfleet, Ma: Shark hit a Porpoise Aftermath

It was still pretty fresh without any flies.

Cape Cod Bay, Wellfleet, Ma: Shark hit a Porpoise Aftermath

All good. Last question in my mind is why the left rear fluke is ripped off. I sent it to the marine mammal protection people who come out on the Cape to see if they would comment, but I have not got a response.

Cape Cod Bay, Wellfleet, Ma: Shark hit a Porpoise Aftermath

Week I looked closely and saw some broken bones. Usually birds just pick them clean

Cape Cod Bay, Wellfleet, Ma: Shark hit a Porpoise Aftermath

Video at Great Island 18 Sept 2016 while I was kayaking. It looks like a shark did this. Anyone disagree? I'm not sure if the porpoise was living or dead at the time. The problem is that only part of the porpoise is missing--it was not entirely eaten. Maybe it was dead, maybe other porpoises...

Some Nice Diving in Lake George

Here's some video of dives I took in Lake George over this past summer in late July. They are in the northern part of the Lake, which I have always found to have better visibility. On these dives, I would rank the visibility as fair; it has been much better. One thing to keep in mind is to...

Maine Lamoine Beach labor Day 2016

Visibility continue used to deteriorate by Labor Day Weekend. Lamoine beach was far superior to Little Hunter beach in Acadia. Nonetheless, all the interesting stuff had to be viewed up close. Video- Sand Dollar, Crabs, a Fast Starfish

    Nubble Light Questions/Parking/Visibility

I was told there are signs at the park parking.. Maximum time 2 hours. Is this enforced? I wanted to do 2 dives with a minimum of packing and unpacking... Also, visibility there can vary quite a bit...a rising tide and lack of storms creating better conditions. Has anyone been there since...

    Surface Equipment Raft/Float?

NRS makes a river tube... Basically a trailer truck sized tube made of pvc, but with a very thick nylon denier cover which zips around the pvc. Pvc has 2 independent air chambers. Denier cover has multiple d rings and mesh center. Very useful to tow gear if you have a real sit-inside sea kayak.

    Harrowing Exit

No, I wonder if I should try sand beach... Let me know I'm leaving tomorrow... I was going to go lamoine Beach at low tide to video/uv life on the ledges, then get to Hunter near high tide for easy entry. Then maybe kayak out to bunker ledges and see if any seals drop by on Sunday.. Have to...

    Harrowing Exit

Nothing wrong with calling dive. BTW, I tried the poles out on Mt Desert Island, Maine

    Harrowing Exit

Better crawl than fall.... Except if the shore is full of round greasy 2 to 3 foot diameter rocks. I found a solution... It's the same as whenever I am walking across snow with ice with a 60 lbs backpack, sometimes in gusty conditions above treeline... Collapsible hiking poles. (crampons...
