The latest landfall has it coming ashore around Fort Pierce 25 miles from my house and 10 miles from work not worried about home more worried about work. Once the storm takes that westward turn we will be more certain of its landfall point I believe.
On a good note I’m looking forward to some...
Not dive related but buddy of mine went out deep dropping and got what he called a rock hind grouper (doesn’t look like one to me) so please help me ID it. I believe it’s some type of scorpion fish. Caught in 400’ of water in east central Florida.
Haven’t been snorkeling/diving in a few months now but finally had a nice freediving trip to the bridge this morning. All the usual suspects along with 4 frogfish (a pair and two singles) a seahorse and a mating pair of octopi and an juvi eagle ray. Most pics touched up with dive+ App
Frogfish...
I finished college 2 years ago with a degree in biology with a focus in marine biology/ecology. I wasn’t involved with high school and just slacked by which made college a lot harder. I also had to work to put myself through college and didn’t have time for internships. I did how ever do some...
When I read the description of the reef damage from the divers that went to the last known area my first thought was that it was an impact from the dpv and was a main cause of him not surfacing. I didn’t want to say this at the time because I was still hopeful he would turn up somewhere on the...
Glad you guys had fun and found good current on the spiegel. Nice pictures/video too!
Looks like a spinner to me. The black tip (if that is a black tip) on the anal fin is a good ID mark (although not always). Another way to tell them apart is if the backside of the peck fins overlap the front...
Not sure if the grouper got the LF but there was a big sand cloud and then no LF so I’m hopeful.
Happened in Ft Lauderdale Florida.
I was picking some lobster off a coral head (small undercut to hide in but not disappear) and there was a LF (small one 4” maybe) on the side of the coral head...
While I’ve never meet him we had some limited back and fourth on SB and I would have never guess he was as young as he was because he carried himself so well. He was very knowledgeable about diving and I hope he comes back to share his insight of this incident.
Thoughts and prayers out to this...
This is a good list of sites from Sebastian to Stuart. Some sites get covered with sand depending on the year so some research is nice before going.

I have been to all the spots south of pepper park within the past year and have found some big...
I grew up freediving in the 15-40ft range (no intention to go deeper) way before I started scuba diving. I still enjoy freediving as it is much easier to get close to the wildlife and slightly cheaper alternative and gives more time to explore (opinion here). I have laid on bottom within two...
