    Best diffusor for CFWA?

Thanks for your reply! I decided to go for the Glowdives. Have only tested them on land and in a pool (just while freediving so no detailed tests yet). They are really wide and smooth but they also takes loads of power from the strobes (kind of logical). Perhaps we should start a new thread...

    Best diffusor for CFWA?

Thinking about getting one of those "new" diffusors that are better suited for CFWA. As I use Ikelite DS161, I have found two alternatives: Ikelite's Ikelite | Dome Diffuser for DS161, DS160, DS125 Strobes Glowdive's (they have versions for most strobe models) Glowdive Productos Fotosub...

Annoying Ikelite 8" Dome Reflection (flare) - DIY solution

Hmm what clear plastic extension? Do you mean the Ikelite zoom-ring?

D7200 and WiFi thru the uw-housing

I have now tested this and YES it works very well. Tested with a Galaxy S6 and an Asus Laptop. An uncompressed 14-bit NEF was transferred to the computer in 15 seconds. A jpg in top quality and max size in about 2 seconds. The transfer to the Galaxy was also fast, but I didn't see any point of...

D7200 and WiFi thru the uw-housing

Actually, my GoPro Hero 3 BE cannot transfer photos thru the uw-housing. I have to take it out. The LiveView (via a smartphone) works thru the snorkel case though (which has a much thinner back door).

D7200 and WiFi thru the uw-housing

Thanks, I actually have an Eyefi pro card since a few years. I am not very fond of it. It slows down the camera and the transfer speed is slow. The D7200 has built in WiFi and I wondered if the Ikelite housing would limit the signal or not. Or if there could be any other reasons why it wouldn't...

D7200 and WiFi thru the uw-housing

Is it possible to transfer photos from a D7200 to a (windows)computer without opening the Ikelite uw-housing? Regards, Peter

D800 Housing - Which is the best?

I use Ikelite for my D800E. It was good enough for me to win the Swedish Championship in Underwater Photography 2015. Mine has: * Vacuum system * LED warning LED * Mini DOME (with sharp edges) Works great with Tokina 10-17 + Kenko 1.4x, = FishEye zoom for full Nikon format. Very sharp! On my...

Just bought a Hero3....questions on accessories

Replacing the battery on the Hero 3 is not an issue. It's super easy. It works a bit like the solution g550driver posted, but it's made that way both by GoPro and by third parties (at least the one that I have bought). The defogger strip should handle 3-4 openings of the housing, but as others...

Just bought a Hero3....questions on accessories

Display is great. Yes it consumes battery but you can bring several batteries (easy to find cheap third party, even with separate charger) and you can simply switch it on/off (underwater) when not filming. The display is not only good for filming, but also for easy playback and it makes changing...

Canon G9 and /or GoPro for trip to Komodo.....?

If you tons of light, the Silver is more or less as good. Not as many video modes, frame rates, resolutions etc, but for uw-video in general you will be just fine. The Black has sharper optics and less noise. So, if you bring strong video lights the Silver is good. If you don't you will be much...

You're wasting your money on lights.....

Funny, am I the only one that agrees with the salesman? The thing he forgot to say though is that this is very true when you are using a fisheye lens as the gopro. Unless you get very very Close you wont get much color from the 600 lumens lights. Use a red filter in tropical Waters and try to...

IKelite Housing for D800, Any Reviews or Feedback?

I've had quite a few Ike housings, 5-6 for D-SLR and 3 for "advanced" compacts. Used the Ike service alot. Have 4 Ike strobes, have had more (but not at the same time), 161, 161, 50, 51. I started with the fix port system and have totally converted to the modular port system. My next uw-housing...

    Flooded my D7000 yesterday

Hahaha! So true, funny how it seems... Yes, I had a leak. Water was coming into the housing at the end of the first dive. I noticed that if I didn't touch a specific control, the leak was very little. If I touched (turned) it, the leak was bigger. So, on the second dive I did not touch that...

    Flooded my D7000 yesterday

Sorry to hear about your flooded D7000. I have flooded two D7000!!! Both times it was the uw-housing that was faulty. First time the uw-housing was brand new and the second time it was 1.5 years old. Both time the manufacturer fixed the housing (including giving an upgrade and service) for...

Nikon 105 mm micro vs. 18-105mm on the zoom

I'd say it's the other way around. You can zoom in all the way (as long the lens fits the port) but you can probably not zoom out very far. Zooming out will give you "vinjetting" / dark corners.

    who's got/or had a D80?

It's an OK camera. I depends on your demands. In general I think what I like the least with it is the display. It's much much better than the first generation (D50/D70 etc) though, but it's still far from the "current" generation (D90/D300/D300s/D7000/D700/D800/D3 etc). It's good enough to see...

My LX5 with DS51 & DS161 also comes out underexposed (new thead, new problem!!)

Hi, I am getting terrible results with my brand new LX5 Ike uw-housing, it has not even got wet yet(!). I got it two days ago from the store. I have done tons of tests and I can't see any solution other than that the TTL doesn't work. The problem is that it consistently underexposes when in...

Any experience with the FIX LED1000DX?

I sold mine last summer. Not becuase it was bad, but because I wanted two SOLA 1200. 2 months after I sold it, it leaked. :-( SOLA 1200 are not stronger than FIXLED1000, but they are sooo much smaller. I have 2 SOLA 1200 for video light. I think the battery time in FIXLED1000 is slightly better...
