One Hour Layover Adequate to Connect GCM and LYB?

It looks like the only flights from GCM to LYB on Saturday are at 7:05 am and 5:10 pm for when we are looking in late October. The meet and greet service looks like the best way to go. We can get in earlier on AA with a 4+ hour layover but then we're booking with separate airlines. I hate...

One Hour Layover Adequate to Connect GCM and LYB?

It looks like only a single flight to GCM from either Tampa or Miami is available on Saturday, leaving mid-afternoon. Both flights show a one hour layover before catching the Otter to LYB. With having to de-plane, clear customs and immigration, collect luggage, re-check luggage, and go through...

Does Luggage Usually Make It Between Cayman Brac and Little Cayman?

Looking at logistics for a trip with a week each in Brac and LC. We can do either Brac first or LC first. We would do the Miami - Brac - Miami flight as we would fly a 737 direct to Brac and avoid the puddle jumper from GC. I've read the stories about luggage not making it on the puddle jumper...

Trip Insurance - Spirit of Freedom?

I appreciate all the responses. As our planned trip involves multiple countries - Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, and French Polynesia, we are currently working through the Covid requirements for each country, knowing full well that it's all likely to change by this December. It's pretty...

Trip Insurance - Spirit of Freedom?

We are looking at 4 days on the Spirit of Freedom in mid December, 2022. We've been informed that if they have to cancel due to weather they will not refund the price of the trip, but merely issue a credit for a future trip, which in our case probably means losing the price of the trip, as we...

Diving ABC's, Arriving on Cruise Ship

It was bought and paid for some time ago, so I'm not completely sure. I think it's roughly 6K a person, including airfare to Buenos Aires. It dumps us off in Fort Lauderdale, so we can drive home.

Diving ABC's, Arriving on Cruise Ship

The last three stops of a 35 day cruise around South America are the ABC's, and we are going to lug our gear with us so we can dive. Anyone have specific recommendations for dive outfits that can accommodate cruise ship passengers? We have dove out of Mambo Beach in Curacao and with Dive Aruba...

    Removing Mask Strap

This is beyond silly, but I've purchased two new Cressi masks to replace two old Cressi masks. I'm trying to remove one end of the new mask strap in order to install a neoprene cover. I can't get the strap off. The strap locks in place with a hinged plastic lever, and lifting that lever allows...

Add Additional Weight For Shallow Dive?

Both my wife and I use a 5MM full suit in 83 degree salt water - we have Florida blood! At 175 pounds, I've reduced my weight from 20 pounds to 14 pounds. At 125 pounds, my wife has reduced her weight from 14 pounds to 8 pounds. We have both found that getting into the water first and allowing...

Add Additional Weight For Shallow Dive?

Interesting. I had understood that the correct weight was the least amount that still allowed you to get down at the start of a dive. After reducing weight, I now get down by deflating my BCD and fully exhaling my lungs until I'm 3' to 4' underwater. I then take a breath, but it seems like water...

Add Additional Weight For Shallow Dive?

We have worked to reduce the amount of weight we carry, and find it much easier to control buoyancy at depth. At the 15' safety stop we can control our depth by breathing, but we pay a lot of attention to the depth indicator. On our last diving trip we did two dives at very shallow depths...

    Treatment For Clogged Ears

I appreciate all of these responses. I thought this was a fairly uncommon problem, but I've now learned it is quite common. I'm putting together an approach for upcoming dives - wish me luck!

    Treatment For Clogged Ears

"Neomycin and Polymyxin B Sufates and Hydrocortisone Otic Solution, USP (ear drops)." Medical jargon is beyond me - is this a single product you are referring to?

    Treatment For Clogged Ears

Has anyone tried vented ear plugs to keep the water from entering the ear to begin with?

    Treatment For Clogged Ears

I've been doing some reading on this sub-forum and realize I'm not the only person dealing with this. I have no problem equalizing my ears while diving, but my ears remain "clogged" after I return to the surface. It's been about 10 days now, and I think an infection has set in. I'm trying to put...

Why Are Wrist Straps So Long?

This may be a silly question... Even over a 5MM wet suit sleeve, my computer has nearly 6" of additional strap. I've noticed the same thing with other computers worn by other divers. Why so long? Is this to allow sufficient strap length over a dry suit? I'm avoiding starting work this morning...

3 Min Safety Stop Cressi Leonardo

3 Min Safety Stop Cressi Leonardo

The owners manual says the computer is programmed to automatically signal a 3 minute safety stop after each dive greater than 32 feet. It also says the display will show the duration in minutes of the stop. Does anyone know what needs to be done to trigger the safety stop to begin? I've done 10...

New Deep 6 DGX reg at Dive Gear Express

We just got back from a trip with 10 dives on this reg. Very pleased with how well it worked. We were both able to easily fine tune the air flow and our corresponding air consumption over the 10 dives so that we maximized our underwater time. Couldn't be happier!
