    Bonaire's travel update

We booked a trip a year and a half ago through our LDS to arrive on the 21st of march. Sounds like everything is a go at the moment, but I really have no urge to leave the country at the moment and possibly infect what sounds like a really nice little island. I'm really hoping we are able to...

What gave you the itch or motivation to take up diving

My dad was big into diving before having kids. He told me lots of stories of all the wrecks in Lake Michigan, and they always intrigued me. One day a few years ago, he was talking about it, so I looked up dive shops in the area, went to one, and signed up for an open water class. I had hoped...

    Brain-freeze Headache in Cold Water

A hood helps, but when the water is really cold, (mid 30's) I still get it pretty bad for the first few minutes.

    Finding Lakes to Dive

Looks like you're near where I am. For inland lakes Elkhart and Crystal are the best if you can get shore access or have a boat. Horseshoe lake in manitowoc county is one of my favorites, but the visibility varies a lot there. I've had 20 feet and I've had days where I didn't even dive...

    Review of Deep 6 Drysuit

I used 10lbs with my aqualung solafx 8mm semi dry. I'm sure I could drop 5 lbs of lead with the drysuit and be fine, but I like to use quite a bit of air in the suit. The fit is perfect with my current undergarment, but I'm glad my weight doesnt fluctuate much because there's not room for much...

    Review of Deep 6 Drysuit

Here's me in mine today. I'm tall and skinny, so a custom suit was my only option if I wanted something that actually fit. I'm wearing my base layer, a fourth element x core vest, and fourth element arctic undergarments. Water was 50 degrees and I was toasty warm for the whole dive. I used...

    Deep 6 Drysuit Review

I decided to bite the bullet and order the custom made drysuit when it was on sale. I'm 6'3" and 170 lbs, which doesn't work so well with off the rack suits. I had been diving a size large diving concepts z-flex, which barely fit my height, and had an ungodly amount of extra room inside...

    Review of Deep 6 Drysuit

I got mine today! It fits like a glove once it's on, but getting it over my head is kind of a chore. I can't wait to dive it and see what a suit that fits feels like!

New Year’s Day diving - cold weather folks

I'm hoping to dive Lake Michigan here in WI if the conditions are decent.

How many here were scared to death and still completed OW classes?

I had a few moments during my open water training. I bolted while doing the mask removal in the pool, and thought about quitting. I ended up sticking it out and finishing the pool portion of the class. We did the pool in February, and the open water dives were on Lake Michigan in April. We...

    Drysuit Questions

I couldn't pass up the sale on drysuits, so I ordered one on Friday. I tried calling several times with questions, but got a message that voicemail wasn't set up. How precise should my measurements be for the drysuit? I measured down to the half centimeter, but will round up if I need to. I...

    Some pictures from this year

Lastly, a few from my favorite local shore dive. This is pier cribbing located in Lake Michigan at Harrington Beach State Park. It's an easy shore dive with a max depth of 15 feet. You can find lots of neat stuff around it. I have 19 dives there, and find something new every time.

    Some pictures from this year

Some from the Bermuda. It sank in 1870 and was raised and towed to its current location in 1883. It is in Lake Superior near Munising, MI in about 30 feet of water. I can't wait to get back to this one, hopefully with better visibility.

    Some pictures from this year

Here's a few from the Niagara. It burnt and went down in September of 1856 in 50 feet of water off of Belgium, WI. It's a really great easy dive with a lot to see, including the paddlewheels, walking beam, engine, boilers, and even pieces of plates that were on the ship.

    Some pictures from this year

Here's a few pictures from this year. These are from the Wreck of the Atlanta. It's in about 15 feet of water just off of Cedar Grove, WI. It caught fire and went down in March of 1906.

Diving report: Bermuda shipwreck dive 9-13-18

Awesome video! We were there in early June and hope to go again in October. It was great seeing such a shallow wreck in good shape and not covered by zebra mussels. Looking forward to more videos!

Want to dive Great Lakes -- where to start?

Looks like a great trip! It is awesome getting on a wreck that's not totally covered in zebra mussels. We dove the wreck of the Bermuda in Lake Superior earlier this summer, and I was amazed at the lack of mussels.

    Key Largo Dive site recommendations

Molasses Reef is great. Make sure to hit snapper ledge too, we saw quite a few nurse sharks there.

    Key Largo Diving Sites??

Snapper ledge and anywhere on molasses reef are awesome! The one site I found "boring" was the Christ statue, but even that had plenty of life.

John Pennekamp State Park or Looe Key?

Go with rainbow reef out of key largo. They will put you with a divemaster for free. We dove with them in April and they were great!
