    Advice on Scubapro regs: Mk25 EVO/D420 vs MK19 EVO/ D420

Regarding servicing your regs: just thinking practically, if you are UK based and holiday diving, or home more than once a year why do you need things serviced overseas? It is probably better and easier to have ongoing dealings with a service centre who you trust than random places around the...

    Advice on Scubapro regs: Mk25 EVO/D420 vs MK19 EVO/ D420

They both have turrets and are cold water rated. If you are happy with the Scubapro kit either would be fine. Anywhere that can service one should be able to service the other, so no concerns there. One is a piston, the other a diaphragm first stage, and conceptually a diaphragm is better...

Question Which double tank size + which type of wing?

Afternoon. As others have said, the D12s are ubiquitous because they just work best for most things. Shallow dives, 2-3 on a fill. Deeper dives, enough gas. Deco dives, add a stage and lovely off you go. If you're particularly short in the torso a set of fabers will trim OK. If you're normal...

    Question Recommendations on destinations - August/September 2024

That's summer in Europe, if you fancy a transatlantic there are lots of options. What sort of thing do you like? Not sure on the $ to £/E rate so how that would sit though. Rich

    Purchasing/selling equipment in the UK

Its an all year activity in the UK! We're back from a weekend on a liveaboard in Scotland last week and had a great time diving the Sound of Mull classics. I'd suggest a club would support that activity if you find the one doing the kind of diving you like. We had single 15 and pony up to D7...

    Purchasing/selling equipment in the UK

There's a couple of pretty good Facebook pages for selling stuff. I'd start there, the turnover seems quite quick. Try something like "Scuba Sales NW" on the search, FB is down at the moment so I can't confirm the name at the moment. Rich

    Question Technical Diving Liveaboard

There are technically oriented clubs, both BSAC and shop affiliated PADI, that tech dive regularly and would organise trips to the red sea. There's also some loose Facebook groups for UK divers who will meet up and buddy up with you. It might be worth having a look around to get some practice...

Sunderland to South Shields shore diving?

The geology of the seabed is based the land bridge to Europe when that bit was Doggerland and goes from about Newcastle and wraps round to basically the Isle of Wight. It's essentially a muddy bottom on all of that bit, I think a forest years ago. As you get north of Newcastle it becomes a rocky...

Sunderland to South Shields shore diving?

I know of a couple of bays a bit further south, you can dive Robin Hoods bay and at Staithes I believe, but not sure much further north. I think I found them in a UK shore dives book. I know it's not exactly what you're asking, but there's a couple of boats out of South Shields now you can get...

Heated vests - Do they actually work ?

I've got a Hauberk heated undersuit, I really like the build quality and the fit on the upper body is really good with great shoulder mobility. Its a little broad cut in the ankles, so not the best fit in the legs, but works really well. They're MTM in Ukraine for 400Euro, and mine as done...

    2023 "Top 10 Dives & Projects"

I've looked at diving in the Baltic from Poland, but not got there yet; plenty in UK waters to keep me occupied for now. The website: Wraki Bałtyku, nurkowanie na wrakach, wraki do nurkowania, wszystko o wrakach | Wraki bałtyku | WrakiBałtyku.pl has some good info on the wrecks and the range...

Question Become an instructor or a rebreather diver?

I'm not an instructor, just dive my rebreather with my friends, do a bit of project work, have fun. Time training to be an OWSI or otherwise would eat into the fun stuff. If you don't want to do it, don't. Use your leave and funds for stuff you want to do.

Under-glove recommendations for long cold dives with Dry Gloves

I tend to use a single pair of thick wool/primaloft mix gloves from Rab, but that's not always that cold and that long. If you're layering up multi layers including a thin neoprene, I think heated gloves will probably be thinner overall for dexterity and warmth. My wife has the Santi heated...

Preparing for fundamentals / intro to tech

To be fair I've had some decent efforts on recruitment by BSAC clubs too over the years, as well as seeing the disproportionate sell on Fundies on here. BSAC 18 Club Sec, DL / GUE CCR.

rEvo O2 Delivery System Modifications (HMHS Britannic prep)

Really enjoyed your write up, thanks very much. The logistics package and admin behind these trips can really make or break them, so understanding what is going on I always find really helpful as I look at bigger trips. Rich
