Hi, Me and my girlfriend are planning several dive trips/dive courses and for this year or next year we are looking for a good cave Instructor on Malta. If there are any that is. Hope to see some recommendations, thanks in advance...

Do cave divers need wreck training?

I really don't know what you're talking about. Is it about a course you followed from Devon? Another course? So because they use books from another training both Trainings are quality wise equally? And you can 'easily' deduct quality of a training by the procedures that are being used/training...

Do cave divers need wreck training?

Hi, first of all I don't do wrecks nor do I dive caves, I've read this whole thread and tbh the problem people have with you is exactly this piece of reply. You assume that your wreck training equals full cave training standards, all without ever having done one bit of cave training meeting...

    Test: strapless mask dive

Lol diving and hunting fish with a modified Glock 17, the most American thing I've ever encountered in scuba diving..

    High(er) end canister?

Of course it might just be marketing but I understood it's useful to change between a tight beam for signaling and a wider beam for having a wider area to light up if you're looking around? And if it's not necessary to buy a variable focus what degree of beam is a good ("allround") beam?

    High(er) end canister?

Yeah that's correct but I couldn't find any other data about the different lights so I guess that's what we have to deal with. If you have other data or know how to correctly Interp these numbers to convert them all to the same unit that would be amazing... As said before I've no experience...

    High(er) end canister?

uw light dude 3500 lumen primary light Halcyon Focus 2.0 (80k lux @ 1m) Heinrichs Weikamp HW80 (5400 Lumen (Measured in Ulbricht sphere), 9000 Lumen (at chip according to datasheet)) DiveRight HP50 (3500lumen) LightMonkey 32 VF Led (4000lumen) <- This one looks like a really great piece of art...

    High(er) end canister?

Wow, I've been looking into these lights and damn if you look at the uw dive light 3500 Lumen Primary if it's half as good as it looks than you might be very right. What really makes these lights crazy is the possibility to connect 2 lightheaded or 1 lighthead and 1 heating solution to one...

    High(er) end canister?

I'm very interested in this thread/subject and would love to read some objective opinions/facts/recommendations on mid/high-end primary canister lights. Seems to me, as said before in this thread, as a very deceiving market where lights can be specified as 5000lu, which they even may have but in...

Night diving - what is it like?

I haven't read the whole thread so excuse me if you've told it already but I find the way one experiences one's (first) nightdive(s) could differ a lot depending on one's experience on daydives I had been diving mostly in low vis. (sometimes max 1m vis. Up to 3m-4m on good days), so when I did...

    Freeflow at night dive

For the ascending part maybe you could've grabbed your buddy firmly at his shoulder webbing so your buddy had two hands available while you just take care of your own 'problems' and your buddy could do a normal ascent with you attached? I guess your buddy wasnt on a long hose?

    plastic backplates

Might be a stupid question but how is possible you be overweighted with just a aluminum backplate? Is that normal without a wetsuit? ( I never dived in warm water like that :( )

7 Ways to Dive Like A Modern Pro

Lol, I read your comment before I saw the video, first image is was the mignon and I after that until half the video I though this was a parody but I guess this video is genuine. And tbh it's not even that bad, these days on the internet you don't succeed easily if you're keeping a low profile...

    Dry Suits

Both your options aren't really accepted as good redundancy by most, if not all, (tec)diving organisations. I might be wrong but as far as I've read a dual blatter has to many downsides and a liftbag/smb could of course be used also isn't accepted as redundancy for lift.

BP/W with chest strap, quick releases and 2 cam bands

The most important about buying diving gear is to buy gear that fits and gear that makes you feel comfortable in, but for some reason it feels like if you buy a bp/w with chest strap, quick releases and 2 cam bands the whole concept of diving a bp/w setup as divers see it today goes down te...

Yeah, I understand it. Didn't get at first what you meant with lots of gas...

    Dry Suits

I don't really get what you're saying but I think the most divers dive with a wetsuit, what's the problem with that?
