    Rob Stewart and Third Dive

Thanks for all the updates! :thumb: Then IMO, if Sotis did not need a chamber ride post dive then it seems very unlikely a Type2 hit for him, but something else. Be that as it may, thats just my opinion, worth diddly in the grand scheme of things.

No worries. And yeah, the results of that even gets me late in the day sometimes (and on any day, not just Saturdays either). o_O

Me to, unfortunately, so to speak. And as we know you can be symptom free until you literally step off the dive ladder back onto the boat (watched that happen to others a couple of times), or say be symptom free in cave country until you walked back to your car (personal experience, again...

    Rob Stewart and Third Dive

No he wasn't, that much I know. Your talking about Stewart, while I was asking about Sotis. So if you read my post again the questions was, exactly "Did Sotis develop other symptoms associated with Type2 and was he chamber treated after this event?"

Corroding wrecks of World War II ships

While oil spills are no laughing matter, one could at least be forgiven a smirk at the doom and gloom predictions (in the article) of the disasters awaiting in all the WWII wrecks worldwide. After all, I don’t recall one single report of a large oil slick, let alone it washing up on beaches /...

    Rob Stewart and Third Dive

I havent really followed this closely so a question: Did Sotis develop other symptoms associated with Type2 and was he chamber treated after this event? If so I would tend to agree with your assumption of Type2. If not then it clearly looks to me like Sotis passing out was from hypoxia (as...

Trip Report Iron Bottom Sound (Solomon Islands -- Feb 2024)

Brett, sent you the historical photo/s earlier today. So re that aft 3"; have it and its raised stand collapsed over on an angle then? ('Seems' its enclosure / raised stand - just visible at the edge of a couple of your 5" photos - is over on an angle / collapsed down , whereas if you look at...

Trip Report Iron Bottom Sound (Solomon Islands -- Feb 2024)

Hi Brett, Well, not so confusing. :) First re your points 3 and 4 above (1 and 2 are just plain wrong, which is no fault of yours). 3 is what can probably be seen on the wreck today (although a few more 20mm's were visible back in the 90's). 4 is what she was fitted with when sunk. Now they...

Trip Report Iron Bottom Sound (Solomon Islands -- Feb 2024)

Hi Brett, I was perusing your write-up on Kanawha to see if you had turned up any 'new' historical photos, when I noticed the following typo (just above the first historical photo of her). "In terms of armament, she had 2 x 5″ 38 calibre guns, 4 x 40mm Bofors dual purpose AA guns, and 8x 20mm...

Different entry technique with multiple travel gas / stage / deco cylinders

As you no doubt know, getting into a lift in rough seas is a real bitch though! Personal choice was to clip off my 'bling', get out, and then jump back in to retrieve those. Yes. And no offense meant, but NOT a lowly Mk15 but a magnificent 15.5! :poke::grouphug2: (Well, most of the time...

    HMS Repulse in 2024?

Not quite 'gone', but.................................she has certainly been heavily, repeat heavily, damaged (as has PoW) and would be a very very sorry site / sight to dive / see now, unfortunately. But they will be 'gone', thats for sure! In case anyone has not seem them, here is a...

Bell from the wreck of USS Jacob Jones returned to USN.

From a Scuba Diving rag (IIRC): "In a poignant tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the US Navy, the Salvage and Marine Operations (SALMO) team has successfully retrieved the bell of the USS Jacob Jones, a poignant symbol of one of the most notable shipwrecks in US naval history. After 107...
