Have you been denied a dive because of the lack of paper dive log (w/ signature)?

Agree with everything you said. I only had quibble with the (stamped and signed) student log being allowed as substitute for a proper (stamped and signed) instructor form.

Have you been denied a dive because of the lack of paper dive log (w/ signature)?

Now I see what you mean. I actually doubt that just a signed, stamped log would be sufficient for an instructor in that scenario. The said adventure dive probably had to be filed with PADI in some way for another instructor to recognize it. Not being an instructor, I could be wrong. My...

Have you been denied a dive because of the lack of paper dive log (w/ signature)?

I know you're joking but of course a dive on your own without an instructor won't count for an adventure dive. You have to do certain things listed on the syllabus in each dive with an instructor for it to count. I do see that "log dive" is part of the syllabus, but I'm seeing anywhere that it...

Have you been denied a dive because of the lack of paper dive log (w/ signature)?

Boy, you guys are tough on the shop! I figure they don't owe me anything and I didn't lose anything so no harm, no foul! If they're motivated by $, then there's nothing wrong with that.....they're a shop! At least they were straightforward in stating their policy right away and didn't do any...

Have you been denied a dive because of the lack of paper dive log (w/ signature)?

The thought did cross my mind but there had been other social dives of theirs I attended with just the C-card so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Me, too. But my buddy wanted to socialize! Interesting take! I think their take is that an electronic log without signature is not proof.

Have you been denied a dive because of the lack of paper dive log (w/ signature)?

Having access to the log isn't a problem. The log is on the cloud so I can already access it with my phone. The problem (per the shop) is that it doesn't have instructor's signature. (I do the same thing with my cards.)

Have you been denied a dive because of the lack of paper dive log (w/ signature)?

It happened to me recently and I'm curious to see how common it is. One of the local shops organized an event called "social dive" at a local (shore) site where they provide a divemaster to check everyone in and out (but doesn't lead the dive) and help you find a buddy if you don't have one...

    Things you've found under water

I wasn't even thinking about the gun being stolen but more along the line of it having been used in a crime then ditched. Have I been watching too many TV shows?

What's the legality of finding a gun? I assume you're supposed to report it?

Thank you for asking this. I couldn't figure it out either! P.S. I almost PM'd you with this message but then decided not to!

    California diver finally delurking

I'd love to hear about your experience with Leadbetter after your October class. I've never heard of it until now. Will have to investigate. We've gone out to Anacapa a couple times. It's lovely!

Now I recognize this photo! I've seen it before. Did/do you have a website or something with the info about the site? I think it inspired me to dive there the first time. As an educator by trade, I'm amused you got that from what I wrote. Nonetheless, point taken.

    Things you've found under water

What a great thread! Once I lost my knife (bright yellow). I put it back in the sheath after using but didn't lock it correctly so it fell out. 2 days later I went to the same dive site, there was someone else there who had found my knife on his 1st dive. He said he lost HIS knife and...

Those are lovely, MaxBottomtime. You've convinced me to give the t-pier another try when the tide cooperates and the tourists leave (so we can park!) Thanks for the welcome, iamrushman. I was trying to decide between delurking and unlurking. Good to know I used the "correct" one!

Oh, look! I learned how to quote! In my thinking, CenCal overlaps both NorCal and SoCal. Monterey is both CenCal and Norcal. Santa Barbara is both CenCal and SoCal. You're right, I'm in the SLO area, which most people consider SoCal, but diving-wise and topside weather-wise, it's a lot more...

    California diver finally delurking

I'm right in between Monterey and Santa Barbara so it's quite a bit of driving in either direction, so mostly I just dive Morro Bay. Not a big fan of all the silt there though. Every time we go elsewhere I'm struck at how much more colorful everything else w/o a layer of silt over it! Good to...

Thank you, Richard. Besides from 2 days on vacation in Greece, all my dives have been in CA, between Monterey and the (northern) channel islands. Both DH and I hate traveling! (Going to Greece wasn't our idea either.)

Hi everyone, I've been reading scubaboard since before I decided to get certified (almost 2 years ago), but haven't signed up until now. I've learned so much from you guys and just want to say thank you.
