Got the new Cressi rolling backpack bag

Looks good: the only issue i've had with these types of bags is that they kill my lower back due to bad strap placement. It looks similar in this situation. It could be interesting to report on the actual wearing comfort once you've tested it with your gear in it! concerning baggage theft...

Question What wetsuit is easiest to get off?

the yamamoto neoprene ones done easier because of the flexibility. It was popular for a while with many manufacturers even for cheaper / midrange suits untill the neoprene became so expensive. for example the 'old' seac komoda line pre 2021 are all full yamamoto and punch way above their weight...

    Joki rebreather?

In my opinion the joki should be considered more as a diy-rebreather. It's made by Fred Badier originally. It's really an mccr in the style of what many british cavers diy themselves. The only person I know of that dives it, and in a double shoulder mounted setup, is Xavier Meniscus. I don't...

    Crimping LP hoses?

I might be misunderstanding you: but this is what I've used on my cyklons before I retired them. OmniSwivel LP 2nd Stage Hose Adapter: Poseidon Cyklon M = 9/16-Inch F This is a standard hose to m14 adapter. They also exist in 90 degree angles if you prefer that type of deal.

    Crimping LP hoses?

What's the advantage of keeping it G1/8? The adapters are basically failsafe if you don't disassemble reassemble all the time. I have really old spirotechnique single hoses with a weird metric ending as well, which I've tried to get crimped by a hydraulic center and they wouldn't do it out of...

Dive knives when out with a DM

My mother had a BFK for a long time. It was a black version of this old thing: I dive with a trylobite cutter on my belt and this tiny thing in my drysuit pocket just in case I might ever need an actual knife... needless to say it has mainly been collecting seaweed in my pocket... On dives...

    YOKE vs DIN

I mostly only use DIN because it's just the standard in Europe, h however I do not agree AT ALL with the statement that din is more resistant to abuse. In case of an emergency an INt reg is super easy to disassemble underwater and alot faster than a din reg. If a tank falls out of a trunk with...

    Older Regulator Identification

The first stages are oceanic rebranded versions of the scubapro mk5 and mk10. (the matt one is an mk10, the full chrome one mk5). Both great regulators.

What is happening with NAUI these days?

-> You literally told this person he has no right to ask questions since he didn't vote. There is no logical link between renewing /voting and being allowed to ask critical questions, you're making connections that aren't there.

What is happening with NAUI these days?

Honestly, if the code of honor is that restrictive that you're not allowed to be critical of your own ranks, there's something wrong with the code. Are you sure you're an instructor for NAUI and not the Pyongyang Scuba Association?

    Suggestions for cold water regulators?

For diving below 0 most brands their seconds are not sufficient. Having just a steel barrel in a plastic casting is not enough to prevent ice buildup if your air isn't supersuperdry and you breathed it out of the water already. if you're truly diving sub zero there's two options on your list...

Rumor: Scubapro Mk17 to be discontinued soon?

Scubapro has also been denying for the past year and a half that their galileo sol battery is not being produced anymore. I guess they know better than Varta. (The Sanjo had been out of production for a while now). It felt so shady to me, that I asked my battery supplier and then got the...

    Wanted Opinion - Collectors Question.....

Matching serial numbers is only useful in my opinion if you're selling the entire regulator box, manual etc etc in mint condition. If you don't have the documents, original box and other parts anymore I don't see the reason for a collector to care about serial matching. the buyers that are not...

Info How to Choose a Regulator

Although I disagree on some of the contents of the article, I think it presents some nice 'failsafe' guidelines for someone looking into investing into their first regs. If you follow the article to a tee the chance you will get a **** regulator combo will be very very very small, and that is...

Question Scubapro MK20 swivel retainer failure questions.

My bad, it's been a couple of years, so I just assumed they all came from the same shop. The mk10 ones I bought somewhere else, but I'd have to check. Might have been my lds, but I'm not sure anymore. In my experience alot of the older dive stores als have huge trays of spares for older...

Question Scubapro MK20 swivel retainer failure questions.

i've had one crack on me at 15 lbs/inch, . Brass Fatigue is a real thing. There's plenty of mk10's and 5's where the brass retainer was never changed and these are quite dangerous nowadays. So it is definitely something to check if you dive older turret first stages. I just bought a set of ss...

Replacing Uwatec Battery - What Kind of Oil?

I have been using paraflo paraffin oil for 4 years without issues both on my aladin air backup and my girlfriend's backup computer. Info from the supplier: Paraflo 15 is a white, technical mineral oil. The product is mainly made up of a mixture of saturated paraffin and cycloparaffin...

    I'm having trouble deploying DSMB...

Now I'm not saying I've never wanted to have a bigger dsmb, but after years of women reassuring me that my dsmb was adequate, I settled and accepted my DSMB size. Ofcourse I've thought of getting a bigger dsmb, but then I realise, it's not how nature intended it. Although sometimes I do regret...

What was the most influential development in scuba diving?

up to the mid 70's most twinsets only accomodated one first stage. And almost nobody was using two full regs. You might have, but it wasn't the norm. What I mean with the octopus, is the practice of using a second regulator for redundancy. Something which wasn't even happening in cave diving for...

What was the most influential development in scuba diving?

I'm very surprised at how few people voted for the octopus. Before the octopus, if you had a second stage failure you would die basically if you didn't have a buddy near you.
