    Bad buddies...

It's on them, until they die and their heirs sue you because as the buddy you've accepted some degree of liability.

    Drift diving in the Keys

Dive trip reservations are usually not refundable if the trip runs and the diver doesn't cancel prior to the last 24 hours. And dive trips ain't cheap. I don't imagine people often "no show- no cancel" for a trip.

Using a camera on Stuart Cove's Shark Dive

I dived with Stuarts Cove on the shark dive in 2006. Brought my own camera. I suggest you leave it behind, and spend the money for the professional video and photos. You know you can afford it.

Lost GoPro session 5 at Dutch springs PA

Dive gear is expensive. Some divers (and nondivers) are broke and dishonest. Add a broke dishonest diver (or nondiver) + careless diver leaving gear lying around = no more gear for the careless diver.

Thefts at Dutch Springs PA (Bethlehem)

This isn't about Dutch Springs, or any other place where people dive. It's about people carelessly leaving valuable items where dishonest people find them and take them. It can happen anywhere, any time.

    Where to get VIP stickers

JohnN- A tank VIP is done to inspect the tank for damage, to avoid it from exploding when being filled.

    Where to get VIP stickers

I've read divers get them on Amazon and use them to bypass the VIP fees each year without actually doing a VIP. It puts Dive Shops at risk but the diver saved $25 so what does he or she care?

    Worth getting a solo card?

My SDI solo course consisted primarily of a couple of dives during which consisted me of shooting a lift bag and untangling myself from coils of string wrapped around me by the DM. The book material was helpful but overall the training part was fairly useless. The card itself has proven itself...

    New divers and buying equipment

I did the same. 2 thoughts. Some day that larger snorkel might come in handy, say you're in a tropical destination and there's a good snorkel excursion, or you happen to be staying in a place with a nice shallow reef nearby, and/or all the offshore dives get blown out. Or you could always sell...

We were diving EAN32 From my Subsurface digital logbook, with the dive data imported from my wrist computer: Spiegel Grove Avg depth 62' 36 min Bibb Avg Depth 72' 29 min Duane Avg Depth 70' 29 min SIs 1 hr 9 min 1 hr 6 min

    Suunto zoop question

It's not a "school boy error" to not take enough gas. When you dive in the tropics, the only available gas is in the form of single tanks, sure you could only dive with ops that provide larger tanks if you can even find one but in the context of this "conservative algorithm" discussion it's...

    Suunto zoop question

Sorry if my posts are ambiguous. I'm simply stating that out of about 20 divers on the 3 tank wrek trek, the 2 divers using Zoops were limited to significantly shorter dives, doing similar profiles to the rest of us, because Zoops are much more conservative. You asked about depth and bottom...

    New divers and buying equipment

Not interested in why other people don't dive to start a thread, but curious enough to respond to your comment about it. I do wonder if it has anything to do with the decline in reef quality and marine life.

    Buffalo police Diver missing

Can't say I blame you. Just knowing I am diving in what can be in excess of a 10 knot current, with a REALLY BIG waterfall somewhere downstream would be a bit of a distraction.

    Suunto zoop question

What I'm saying is the 3-tank wrek trek we did in Key Largo, on the Duane, Bibb, and Speigel Grove are no decompression dives. There were about 20 divers on the boat, and the divers with the Zoops had significantly shorter dives simply because their computers have a much more conservative...
