    Diving the Keys' Molasses Reef

I enjoyed that. Thank you! I am currently recovering from spinal surgery and will be dry for 2-3 months, so I really enjoyed diving vicariously through your video!

    Status of Apeks Regulators

Your guess is as good as ours, but I doubt service kits will become an issue. I’m not an Apeks fan but do own 4 AL regs. So far I’ve seen no issue getting them serviced.

    Status of Apeks Regulators

Apeks was bought by Aqua Lung years ago. Are you referring to AL being bought by the private equity firm (I forget the name)? Dive Gear Express sells Apeks service kits currently. CORRECTION: I thought DGX carried parts kits but don’t see them currently on the website.

    Shearwater Cloud - dive buddies

Once you enter a combination once, it should appear as a selectable short-cut as long as you start typing the same beginning text. Just like it does with site & location.

For Sale Worthington X7 HP 100's

Probably your location maybe? I can see they are in great shape as well. These are also really popular in California and the Great Lakes area for cold-water diving.

For Sale Worthington X7 HP 100's

Too bad you're not in South Florida. These would have sold within a week down here. These are sweet tanks for the diving we have down here! I own 2 of them myself ... used to own 8 total before selling 6 of them off. Given that these are no longer manufactured, divers down here typically...

Dual agency PADI and Who would you chose

Multiple instructors I've spoken to who hold SSI and SDI instructor certs. I'm not an expert on either one, just sharing the "reputation" as I've heard presented to me on multiple occasions. Take it or leave it. ADDITION: It could be complete bunk as well. Just sharing what I've heard...

Dual agency PADI and Who would you chose

All true, but SDI has a reputation for more solid, thorough training courses. Here in South FL, you see a few 100% PADI shops left, but many are PADI/SSI or PADI/SDI or even PADI/SDI/SSI. Many of those later shops have grown tired of PADI for the reasons listed and are pushing as many students...

Simple answer for me ... NO. That's because you didn't offer HELL NO as an option.

Thoughts on the Big Blue AL 1300 NP as a tech backup light?

I've been using this same model for years. It started as an AL 1000 NP I believe, and they are now able to deliver 1300 lumens out of the same package, thus the AL 1300 NP name for the current model. Fantastic light. I own two (1000 and 1200 lumen models), use one on every dive, and have...

    Transfill whip math

I just fill my pony bottles once a year at VIP. I never have to fill them again until the next VIP. I have 2 AL40s that I use this way throughout the year. I don't ever transfill. If you don't have to use your pony, which you shouldn't, it shouldn't ever be an issue. If you DO need it, then...

    How to clean HDG tanks

I typically use this on my HDG and AL brushed no-coat tanks: Pro Strength Remover - Goof Off All of my tanks are marked with a simple sharpie. I need to go over the writing maybe once every couple of years.

    Diving post ACDF spinal surgery

Absolutely! He is and will continue to be. I appreciate the advice and guidance. And yes, trampoline jumping Papaws (I was playing with my 13 year old grandson at the time) are awesome ... until they land very awkwardly in the foam pit. That was NOT how I planned to stick that landing! Doh!

    Diving post ACDF spinal surgery

I realize I'm reviving an old thread, but I don't see a need to start my own. I had a freak accident at a trampoline park playing with my 13 year old grandson weekend before last. I fractured and dislocated C6 and fractured C7. My C6 was dislocated 6mm out of alignment, which doesn't sound...

Question Only Instructor wears dive computer (extra charge if I want one)

We can certainly argue that the rental price is exorbitant, and it is. However, as a newish diver, the OP needs to realize that as a certified diver, they are responsible for their gear. They either need to own it or rent it, but it is their responsibility to ensure they have what they need...

Looking for discovery dive in Marco, Naples, or Ft. Lauderdale

I live in SWFL but typically dive in SEFL. I drive over once a month to dive. The diving on this coast is not stellar. It is far better in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Your son will have a much better experience in Ft. Lauderdale. I would recommend Sea Experience. They are a PADI IDC...

Is there anywhere left in the Caribbean with healthy reefs in 2024?

Something else you may find helpful. We have a Jupiter and a Palm Beach thread in the Florida forum. Many of us post regular condition updates plus photos and videos. Also, the world-famous Blue Heron Bridge shore dive is right in Riviera Beach at Phil Foster Park and it has its own dedicated...

Question Serial number prefixes on Pelagic Pressure Systems MH8A transmitters

I recently bought a used MH8A from someone here on SB. It has no prefix. Just the S/N 076590 037. It connects without issue just like my other transmitters. My Shearwater PPS MH8A that came with my Perdix AI is FK-003875.

Is there anywhere left in the Caribbean with healthy reefs in 2024?

You misunderstood my comment. I know why you were asking for recommendations. My point was that I was not going to include web links to my recommendations because you can find them online easy enough.
