Flying into San Jose Del Cabo w/Cam gear...

Thanks for the info. So, UW cameras, housings and other accessories are subject to tax? How about non-UW cameras?

    Post-Norma Cabo and La Paz?

Anyone know how well the above locations have recovered from hurricane Norma last month? Considering visiting next month. Thanks.

    Always wear a wetsuit?

That's my bare leg in my short john in Bali. I kind of liked it.

Minimum depth change required for an AGE?

I wonder if straining to lift the heavy object contributed--perhaps in a major way.

    Help deciding in wetsuit thickness

In roughly a hundred dives in Hawaii I have never seen (or even heard of) anyone diving dry. Most use 3 or 5 mm. A 7mm wouldn't be terribly uncomfortable in Hawaii, and might be sufficient in Monterey Bay if you don't do a lot of repetitive dives. (This from a guy who's dived Point Lobos in a...

Nice illustrations. Yes, nudis have weird anatomies. As you point out, the anus of dorids can be either by the reproductive opening or in the center of the branchial plume, as with this Hypselodoris infurcata shown taking a dump:

Kohala Coast Diving vs Kona Coast?

Also an ankle buster. At least for us old, clumsy types. Mahukona on the other hand, has a nice, easy ladder entry, and is a very nice dive. Puako “end of road” is another nice, relatively easy entry.

    Islamorada Dive Shops

A bit OT, but does anyone remember Phil's Dive Shop? I got certified (YMCA) there in 1983 while I was living on my 16 foot sailboat at Bahia Honda. It was run by Phil DeClue, who claimed, believably, to be an ex professional wrestler. He was flooding the AM airwaves at the time with "learn to...

Any other option for a lcd magnifier for the PT-058?

I've been curious about these viewfinders. Any idea what the working distance is? Would rather not have to jam my mask up against the thing.

    Considering a TG-6

I think that lens sharpness and other factors such as motion blur, camera shake, etc. will be more of a limitation than pixel count.

Yes. I received a large, unsolicited discount on a current model BCD the one time I visited the store. Staff were friendly and surprisingly knowledgeable.

Which mask would you recommend to Michael Schumacher?

One more vote for the Tusa Freedom HD—one of the few I've found that feels really good on my big face. Backpfeifengesicht—love it! A word that my vocabulary has always longed for. Gotta love the German way of coming up with compound words.

    Tiny, shrimp-like "cling-ons"?

The critters in the OP don't look like C. mutica, but may be some other caprellid species.

    Tiny, shrimp-like "cling-ons"?

Not that specialized. Caprellids (skeleton shrimp) commonly colonize boat hulls and the like. From a NZ news site (Boaties warned of skeleton shrimp invasion) : Boaties are being warned to check their hulls for "weird, hitch-hiking" skeleton shrimp invading New Zealand waters. The marine...

    Tg6 First pics and questions!

Contrary to the dogma that lighting always has to come from an external flash positioned well away from the lense, the TG-6's internal flash works pretty well for macro if in relatively clear water. Reduces geometric problems in tight spaces.

    Tg-6 Housing (Need opinions!)

Yep, and if you're really that serious you're not using a TG-6. And, FWIW, I've had a TG-4 down to 80' on a couple of occasions. It stopped working, probably because it thought all of its buttons were being pressed at once, but resumed working when it got back to 50'.
