Difficulty level of emergency rescue diver?

Well I know this thread is nearly a month old now but I'm just getting caught up! I completed rescue today. I got my OW cert July 2018, AOW July 2019 - both on vacation. I've done 20ish dives locally as well. (I left my logbook at home by mistake and honestly don't remember the exact dive # I'm...

Eon core versus sheerwater perdix AI

I'm a little late to this party, but I had this conversation with my LDS about a month ago. I wasn't expecting to see a perdix in the shop and it was around the same price as the eon core, so I had to ask for an opinion. Honestly, the answer was so underwhelming that I chose what was in stock...

BP/W in warm water without wetsuit

If you figure that out, please share. I’m looking into getting my first bp/w and with all the choices I can see how it’s easy to accumulate more and more.

Looking For a Buddy To Dive With

We look at both hotels and Airbnb. Doesn’t matter really. We did decide to hold off though, sadly. We already went to Hawaii last month and are planning a Korea trip for December. I was really hoping for a good dive trip!! Argh!

What’s the most random or awesome thing you’ve found on a dive?

My OW instructor and I found a no smoking sign far from the shore in about 40ft of water. It was debris from a hurricane from about 9 months before. He put it in his pocket and when we got back to the beach, he put it up on the gear storage cabinet.

Do you have specific advice for posture and anatomy as it relates to trim?

This has been a fascinating thread to read. I actually have had the opposite problem. What felt like fairly horizontal trim to my body was actually a bit knees down, head up (like my profile picture, but not that pronounced). If I totally relaxed (stopped sculling my feet), I would be okay, but...

Need gear for wife and I

I got certified last summer and bought all of my gear within a month after getting home from my trip. So far, I have only upgraded two things: my computer and my fins. The fins I bought at first are awesome, absolutely nothing wrong with them. I, however, changed. As I learned more, I changed my...

Looking For a Buddy To Dive With

I switched tabs to come search the board for where to stay in Cozumel and checked this thread first. I’m thinking of going there for the first time over thanksgiving. Any recommendations?

Looking for a Dive Buddy this Weekend

I wish you wanted to go Sunday! I would join you, weather depending. I've never been to Wheeler Branch.

    Useful Items for Certifi-vacation?

I bought my Mares Puck Pro for about $150 on amazon before I went on vacation to get certified. I was happy I did because the shop I did my class with doesn't rent them, so I was just learning tables (which is fine, and I'm glad I did). I was happy I had my computer though because I was able to...

    Useful Items for Certifi-vacation?

What kind of beanie? I'm imagining like a regular cloth beanie and that just doesn't seem right lol. My hair drives me insane while diving.

Looking For a Buddy To Dive With

I live in McKinney too! It takes a little over an hour to get to Scuba Ranch from here. I was thinking of going this Sunday but with all this rain, I'm not sure if you'll be able to see your hand in front of your face lol. And then more rain is expected. We'll see.

Looking For a Buddy To Dive With

No kidding...I am paranoid about scratching my tank in the pool. Uh...I mean damaging the pool. Yeah. That’s it. :) I was scraping algae off the bottom of my aunts pool. It’s about 10ft deep judging by my ears lol. Forgot my computer so I couldn’t tell for sure. My pool is 5ft deep And only 9k...

    Finally have my own gear!!!

Yay! I just got my own stuff recently too. I got to test it all out in the lake this weekend and looooved it! And today I officially got my nitrox cert if that counts as new stuff lol. Already starting to think about when I'll have the chance to dive again...

I am interested in learning to Dive, but I am landlocked and I have physical disabilities

With left being her good side I don’t think she’d need anything custom as far as the bcd. The inflator is controlled with the left hand.

    First Stage: Keeping it Dry?

I wasn't taught to do anything with regards to drying the dust cap. Just put it back on right away after disconnected the reg from the tank. I was diving in a lake yesterday (rain ruined todays plans) and today soaked my regs in a tote of fresh water for a few minutes, then hung them up on my BC...

Pros and cons of various compasses ?

I just bought a retractable one with the super tilt feature, but now I'm rethinking it. That DGX wrist mount is cheaper...after this weekend's diving, I may return the retractable and order that one.

How do divers not realize their air isn't on?

My instructor wanted me to know what it feels like to be OOA, so he went behind me and turned off my tank. We were about 10-15ft deep if I recall correctly. He told me to watch my SPG and breathe. As soon as I didn't get a breath, I signaled OOA and he turned my tank on immediately. It was a...
