Things you are (almost but not really) ashamed of doing while diving

I’ve done that twice when I was young and dumb I guess I’m old and dumb, now, but no longer have the urge to repeat that.

    My dad's old spearguns

I have an old Dacor gun that I retired. I started using it when I was 13-14. I’m 65 now. Figured it was better off on a wall display.

What countries are people traveling from?

I’m supposed to be going to Little Cayman June 29, but they won’t let us in. They haven’t opened up, yet. Trip and air fare paid. The new govt. ran on opening up, but it hasn’t happened. Election was April 14.

THE "PERFECT ( being horizontal ) TRIM" HOAX

I was called down about my trim last year in Palau. I was asked if I knew that I was about at a 45degree angle. I replied that yes indeed I was aware of it. The 5 inch titanium plate in my neck keeps me well aware of it. Horizontally, I get a pretty fair view of the bottom, but little else...

Alternative weight pockets for Hydros Pro

I agree that they WILL loosen up. I’ve used them for at least 10 years. Mine have loosened considerably. That was my thought as soon as I saw that style of mounting. My advice is turn them over. I get the Tec guys thinking, but over time you will be buying new pockets.

    Diving with Scleral Lenses

I should add that I have past lasik issues in both eyes and scarring over the center of my left cornea from recent injuries. I’ve had two cornea transplants in my right eye. Cataracts removed both eyes with interocular lense in both eyes. I’ve had detached retina in right eye.

    Diving with Scleral Lenses

Yes. My eyes are real screwy, and I will still have glasses, also. I have multiple aberrations in each eye, as well as double vision due to thyroid eye disease which causes eye muscle coordination issues and double vision. The contacts will deal with multiple aberrations, fogginess, and Star...

    Diving with Scleral Lenses

I went to measurements, today. Went well. I’m cautiously optimistic, actually a bit excited. They got me to 20-30 and 20-40. Way better than with my glasses. Can’t pass a driving test with glasses right now, so again, I’m cautiously optimistic.

    Prescription Lenses for existing mask

Prescription Dive Masks are AWESOME!!! They have just made my second mask for me. I have real screwy prescription, and could not find anyone to make it. They did about 8 years ago. They just completed a second mask for me, and I think I see better with it than my glasses. Ask for Linda Young...

    Cozumel

I am leaving Friday for two weeks. I’ve been vaccinated, and I am not going to worry. Cozumel has always been my happy and safe place. I view the CDC with quite a bit of skepticism. From what I can find out, Coz has been pretty proactive with Covid protocols. Tourism is too important to them...

Question re: water in my mask

My cure is fairly simple. If I’m making one or two dives, I use the silicone on my mustache method. If I’m diving on a long trip, think liveaboard, I just shave my mustache off. I’m Italian, and it grows back fast.

What equipment to own vs to rent

i’minterested in the fixation on a light. After M,F,&S, I would buy a dependable Regulator and BCD. Your reg is your most important piece of kit. I have dived for many, many years, and have never rented a reg. Although most reputable operators maintain their equipment well, you just never know...
