seatemp website doesn't get me excited for my impending trip. reading updates from people who are there in realtime get me excited for my trip....
All Hail the sticky!
This is a very good question. Personally I would suggest no less than 5 months after the news……anything less than 4 months from conception is very dangerous, but I am only basing this on my negative experience of getting punched in the face by my wife when I told her I wanted to go diving when...
I paid $1200 for my gorazor sidemount one on one 4 day course in Cancun cenotes/caves. To this day it’s still far an away the best training course I’ve had in any facet of life. 100% worth it IMO
Day 1:
- configuration and adjustment of the harness
- prepare the tanks
- gear up at the surface
-...
8-22nd I’ll be there. Boring everyone to death with the slowest camera dives in history, but buying the beers at the delfins bar afterwards to make up for it 😂🤘
Always loved my DM's deadpan response to the question 'what is at the bottom of the blue hole' on my first liveaboard....
"6 or 7 bored fat old sharks and about 300 gopros"
This sucks Hope you recorded your name and address as soon as you turned it on? I’ve found 6 GoPros and only managed to get 2 back to the owners. I always tell people the same thing when diving ‘good idea to get in the habit of recording your name and address as soon as you turn it on in the...
I would never put a ‘rescue diver’ patch on my gear but I would also never make someone feel intimidated or uncomfortable if they wanted to do it. Do what you like with your gear as long as it doesn‘t risk failure.
Same. Breakers. It’s a family joint. Lots of kids there usually. The house reef is easy diving. I actually took my nephew there to get certified when he was 13
I’d also add that it’s not that difficult to hop a ride with the crew from hurghadha to ghalib, particularly if you are doing 2 x trips with the same company. I’ll usually do MY BLUE if it’s available or the emperor boats. It’s not a bad call to follow the Germans as they gravitate to the more...
I stay at the breakers regularly. It’s great. Housereef is one of the best overall and morning zodiac out to sites like tobia arbaa etc are solid. I also cart around a monster of a rig ( Nikon z7. 4 x keldans etc etc) and having the dive site right there with no boat to do 5+ shore dives a day...
Personally I would tick the box with the brothers/thistlegorm etc and then try to get down south. I usually go on 3 x back to back weeks on different boats when I do a Red Sea trip and honestly prefer the Deep South trips, if for nothing more than the less crowded sites although overall I prefer...
if you stay in a resort, or decide to do some diving before the boat. I usually always do a few days to a week at the breakers in soma bay. Favorite place to shoredive/zodiac diver in hurghada by far.
don't forget the option of a private diveguide if you want one. I imagine you are getting a pretty good deal nowadays as lots of the boat's diveguides are sitting on the bench until the trips get back to pre pandemic numbers.
