Help with my ears after diving

Ok well, I might have messed up on which part of the ear is affected but who knows.. doctors make mistakes, it could be more than one thing. Keeping the outer ear dry certainly can't hurt and it might help troubleshoot the cause if in fact it's not entirely due to middle ear problems.

Help with my ears after diving

3 words. Vented Ear Plugs. Why deal with the problem with ear drops after the fact when you can prevent water intrusion in the first place?

Trying to compensate for feet down trim when wearing no exposure protection and little weight

I almost always do a slow and controlled frog kick unless I need to get somewhere fast such as this afternoon to get a good shot of an Eagle Ray that was headed in my general direction at which point I did a max speed flutter kick to catch up with it. I have found in the past few days that...

Trying to compensate for feet down trim when wearing no exposure protection and little weight

The 2+2+2+2 has got me pretty close. I also pushed the tank as far down as it can go, and I'm at the point where it takes a good 45 seconds for my feet to shift down, and even then I'm still a bit more than halfway between vertical and horizontal (closer to horizontal). Works for me. :) P.S...

Trying to compensate for feet down trim when wearing no exposure protection and little weight

I was only using 3 lbs on each side for a total of 6. In order to use the shoulder pockets I'd need to use a total of 8 split into 2 lbs each since no 1lb weights are available. I didn't want to dive with extra weight but that's what I'm going to do this morning.

Trying to compensate for feet down trim when wearing no exposure protection and little weight

I was using 6 lbs tota which is all I need but in an attempt to improve feet up trim I've added to lbs and I'm now up to 8 lbs. If I was to consider trying your suggestion, then why not just put them in the shoulder weight pockets, they're almost exactly the same height, if not slightly higher...

Trying to compensate for feet down trim when wearing no exposure protection and little weight

I dived today with a 2 lb weight on the tank band and 2- 2 lb weights on the hips. It was better but still feet down. I added 1 lb to the tank band. With that configuration it was slightly better but I found if I leaned a bit one way or the other I'd tend to list to that side and stay there...

Trying to compensate for feet down trim when wearing no exposure protection and little weight

The advice was to lower the tank not raise it. I am currently using 3 lbs in each hip pocket, I can't move 2 lbs up because no 1 lb weights are available. I have found that a 2 lb difference between left and right side causes me to roll.

Trying to compensate for feet down trim when wearing no exposure protection and little weight

I'm still confused. It would appear that if I mount the tank lower, since it's negatively buoyant at the start of the dive it would exacerbate the problem, and it would only provide some benefit towards the end of the dive when it's positively buoyant.

Trying to compensate for feet down trim when wearing no exposure protection and little weight

Can you elaborate? Preferably before tomorrow morning at 7 am. The tank is an AL80.

Trying to compensate for feet down trim when wearing no exposure protection and little weight

I researched this a bit after I read your post- and although aluminum tanks are positively buoyant towards the end of the dive, at the start of the dive they are negative. So your proposed fix will only work at some point roughly halfway through the dive.

Ear plugs for scuba diving, a mini review of the 2 different types

Ok maybe not bone dry but the Docs plugs kept out almost all the water and the Hydroseals even moreso to the point that I don't feel a thing. I don't follow. To me, the plugs ARE simple preventative measure. I don't know but I can guess? Space Camp!

Trying to compensate for feet down trim when wearing no exposure protection and little weight

@ReadyDiverOne since you're a bit slow on the uptake I'm going to answer your question and type veeerrrry slowwlllyyy in the hopes that you can keep up. You ready? I care. That's why I asked the question. Safe diving.

Trying to compensate for feet down trim when wearing no exposure protection and little weight

I did it backwards..lol. Will do that tomorrow thanks. For some reason I've always been rather inflexibly geared towards the least possible amount of weight being better. I think I'll try moving the tank down and if it doesn't do the trick I'll add some weight above and go 2+2+2+2 rather than...

Trying to compensate for feet down trim when wearing no exposure protection and little weight

I'm in the middle of a week long vacation in Little Cayman along with several ScubaBoard members and it's been some real nice diving so far. Tomorrow we're doing the day trip to Cayman Brac to do the Tibbets wreck, but I'm already off topic and at risk for derailing my own thread before I even...

Ear plugs for scuba diving, a mini review of the 2 different types

Why do you need to use ear drops after using ear plugs which should be keeping your ears dry? If you're still getting water in your ears, that's another benefit of the Hyroseals. After my second dive day my ears remain bone dry. Another nice feature of the Hydroseal plugs. No leash is needed...

Ear plugs for scuba diving, a mini review of the 2 different types

I started using Docs Pro Plugs a few years back because I hated the itchy squishy feeling I got from water in the ears, which persisted for an entire dive vacation and for some time thereafter. Although the problem can be addressed with various ear drop remedies, it's still a hassle to use them...

    Easy editing?

I was going to mention that one too. It's still around for download and although it's a bit limited it's also good for stitching videos together and adding effects. It's free software and compatible through Windows 10. If someone wants Windows Movie Maker and can't find it I'll provide a...

    Easy editing?

Wondershare Filmora. Easy to use, lots of features if you care to use them, but certainly for stitching clips together, it's perfect and it's a lot less than $100. I suggest using one of the many transition effects in between scenes but nothing too crazy or it distracts from the video itself. On...

    Horrible Divers Everywhere?

This is so not the point. There is no excuse for sloppy inept diving and incompetent instruction. None.
