Absolutely, and its something that's been calculated, but what we calculate for a worst case isn't always what we would want to do given the choice and armed with more information that would allow us to make a decision to cut the dive short can't be a bad thing. This only works in a limited set...
I can't state enough that the plan will only be shortened by this set-up that worst case is still worst case. What we're talking about here is max 15min accelerated up to and hour air deco (also while not taken into account drop tanks are available)
Okay so I don't think I've been explaining what I'm trying to get across very well.
So this only applies to dives with one deco gas as I can't see it working with more than two geses. And I'm coming at this from the point of view of the diving I tend to do (twin 12l air with 7l stage of 50-80%...
Nowhere did I say that I would continue the dive having lost my deco gas. This is simply a "were I to lose my deco gas at this point what would the deco picture look like" all this within the confines of an already existing plan.
And many people bring two (edit: backup) torches with them that...
Which is why we plan for being able to complete the dive using only backgas and without access to a buddy's deco bottle. Obviously the scenario you describe is much less unpleasant than having to do masses of air deco potentially on your own which is why we are using our second computer to...
I suppose it would be nice if the comp could show it. But given all the information it already displays it could easily become cluttered.
Like rhwestfall says the calcs are done for a worst case scenario but during the dive having an ability to quickly see what the immediate consequences of...
Yeah was aware of the bar across time but for some reason I find seeing the seconds tick by on my OSTC somehow reassuring
I absolutely know that feeling if I'm not wearing a watch I feel naked, knowing the time of day at all times is essential for me. I usually have my watch on right up until...
Recently I've started beginning a dive with my deco gas disabled on my backup computer. Then when hitting my switch depth enabling the gas. I'm wondering if there is any downside to this practice?
Logic: were I to lose my deco gas I am aware of how much air deco I've incurred and can monitor...
What do people usually do with the center row of your perdix or Petrel? I just got my perdix ai and am wondering what to do with the center row. I'll be using it in oc tec mode. My current thinking is:
Left: tank pressure
Middle: ppo2 (as I'll only be diving with 2 gases and should only be...
Divesoft Fluorescein Marker Dye so recently stumbled across this. Has anyone used it?
How long will the dye last? If released at depth (say 40m) how visible would it become at the surface?
And bear in mind DJI also promised a housing for the osmo pocket when the camera was released (end of last year). A few renders appeared but nothing since. So until a housing becomes available I would stay away. For a good comparison check out Philip Blooms video
Obviously there's no underwater...
It does list an underwater case (no details) the unit is waterproof to 11m without the housing so perhaps of little value to divers. I would however caution against buying with a view to getting the housing later, the osmo pocket was released with the promise of a housing and that has yet to...
Photos and specs of the new DJI Osmo Action camera have been leaked
Osmo action, looks like GoPro competitor. Don't think it looks waterproof beyond ca 10m nothing on a housing as of yet.
There was a report on a new gopro form factor type camera from dji a few days ago.
DJI action camera reportedly leaked to compete with GoPro
I wouldn't get my hopes up too much just yet, waterproof may just mean 10m and they released the osmo pocket promising an underwater housing that has...
Our club is looking to invest in some equipment for new members. In a perfect world we would like to get a console with spg, depth gauge, compass and bottom timer, but sadly our budget will not allow this. I'm looking for recommendations on reasonably priced dive watches or bottom timers. The...
