I might come off being anti customer because don't really deal with customers. I've been around when a customer went crazy on an employee for a failed tank. It was steel and had a huge dent and gouges. It looked like it fell out of a car or truck on the highway. Anyways it left a really bad...
A piece of paper doesn't increase sales, and someone's willing cooperation doesn't mean squat when getting sued for everything you are and will be worth. You should especially know that living in California. My comment on "Better off buying VIP sticker from eBay and doing inspection yourself."...
I agree with you. I'm actually a really nice guy. I will tumble your tank as part of a visual inspection service, O2 clean your cylinder and valve as part of visual inspection service, replace o-rings, replace burst disks, make sure everything is properly torqued to spec, and finally give you a...
Per PCI/PSI
I, ________________________________________________________, owner (or authorized representative) of high pressure cylinder, serial number _______________, have requested your visual inspection and/or hydro test service. I understand that these vital safety examinations are needed...
If a tank has rust inside, some pitting, contamination, minor crack, or a damaged thread doesn't mean it will fail a visual inspection. 99.999% of tanks will be fine with a tumble and clean and pass a VIP. Only truly dangerous tanks will fail a VIP.
If I fail a tank durning visual inspection I drill a hole in the neck, or if I'm feeling nice cut the tank in half on the bandsaw so you can make a cool dinner bell. Of course I make you sign a pre-inspection waiver, then provide a detailed VIP sheet and take pictures of the damage to cover my...
I had basically the same situation but I had an adapter. It got me thinking though....If the yoke insert was so corroded I wonder what the inside of the tank was like.
I prefer the non hot dip galvanized version. The new "painted" Faber cylinder's distributed by XS scuba are 3x zinc sprayed(Galvanized) and epoxy and polyurethane painted. The inside of the cylinder looks like a teflon pan.
I really should have said do a "try scuba class or whatever they are called". I only mention this because a good friend wanted to get certified and signed up for OW certification class. He was fine in 3 feet of water, but as soon as they went to the bottom of the 12 foot section of the pool he...
I'm not a commercial diver but maybe I can give some advice.
First you mention you are interested in becoming a commercial diver/ underwater welder.....If not scuba certified I'd start there, that way you will know how it feels being underwater....worst case scenario you become recreational...
This is my thinking.....I'd rather use the most "worn/abused" regulator as my primary with the thinking if one is going to fail I always want it to be my primary of course.
