Just because you keep repeating the same OPINIONS does not make them facts. Think maybe you guys have been taking too many lessons on fake news from your outgoing POTUS!
Just because a team you were involved with a long time ago couldn't meet a particular spec doesn't mean anything.
I realise...
Unfortunately I am not in a position to do that. I wish I was as I'm sure it would show Akimbo's OPINION on this matter to be substantially different from fact.
I really don't know where to start with this!? Almost every line of it is so wrong it's not even funny. I can't believe a man of your standing in the community would spout such drivel.
Where is your evidence that diver's die before they get back to the bell from hypothermia before they run out...
We've been through this already Akimbo (on this very thread) where I challenged the wisdom of your position that we should only give the diver a few minutes of gas because you thought he would be incapacitated by cold after that so why bother with more. I've also already debunked the myth you...
Exactly so. Having a sat diving rebreather that needs an umbilical supply is nonsense when systems like this exist:
JFD | Electric Gasmizer
Basically a giant rebreather but with most of the equipment on the surface. Offers all the benefit of reclaiming the expensive helium without the...
My, what a big dong you have :surrender:
I'm still not sure this adds anything to the thread though?
However, moving on, and in what might be my last attempt to bring something useful to this thread if the playground stuff continues, here's something you can find on the internet when you take...
I feel your pain, and I apologise if this thread now reads like a biggest member competition. My last post was definitely a bit strong.
Problem is, when I’ve done what you suggest and presented genuine, verifiable information in a matter of fact way, to try to counter the misconceptions...
I consider it a badge of honour mate :D
Seriously though, senility must be a terrible thing. You don’t even seem to be able to remember the thread is about cobra, and keep waving some incoherent shite about SLS around instead, like some old piss-stained asylum lunatic urging the other inmates...
No that’s not what I’m asking for at all (especially on this particular topic). What I’m actually asking is that clever people stop letting themselves and others down by posting ‘knowledge’ based on sketchy recall from something vaguely similar they once saw decades ago, especially when the...
Thanks for that Iain. You’ve saved me a lot of typing with this brilliant example illustrating my point about people with deep knowledge in one area but only superficial or out-dated knowledge in another posting misinformation in the hope that the readers know even less.:thumb:
The rotowink is...
Did you really hear that Iain, or did you make it up because you thought it was witty (even though almost no-one reading this thread (on what is basically a recreational scuba forum) will get the ‘joke’)? Don’t give up the day job just yet. A career in comedy is still a long way off!
I’m not so sure that you’re too sure about very much at all!?
Actually I’m slightly offended that you couldn’t be bothered to wind me up properly with something even mildly imaginative and witty. In fact, for someone so clearly knowledgeable (about compressors at least), I’m fairly sure...
Cobra does indeed have a ‘cartridge-type’ scrubber system, but it definitely does not use Micropore EAC. I’ve maybe been a little disingenuous when I said “as far as I know” in my earlier post ;-)
The PDF datasheet you have posted is out of date. You’ll see it’s labelled R1 (revision 1). The...
That was uncalled for. You’ve gone down even more in my estimation now. Just because my opinion differs from yours doesn’t make me an idiot. I’ll resist a reciprocal personal attack though.
What I would point out is that if breathing your unit to breakthrough underwater, just so you know what...
Motor bike racing is a competitive sport, CCR isn’t (or shouldn’t be!). For me diving isn’t akin to trying to win a race or whatever and I think the racing motor bike analogy actually touches on something else I’ve found interesting though, and it exposes the underlying reason so many amateurs...
Sounds like you know the answer already. The costs and risks of CCR are not worth it (imo) unless the type of diving you are doing would be more risky/expensive without it.
Check this out (if you haven't already), especially Pt.6...
