Brilliant!!
Thanks very much for the pics, that helps me out enormously!!
Now if there was only a way to get the leg straps off the sheath without hacking off all of your fingers!! :(
Okay i went back and read all the replies (again thanks), and some good points were made.
I just wanted to clarify that I wasn't saying I didn't want or need one, but more a question of "do I need one for every appendage, and every blank spot on my kit". LOL....
It was also encouraging to see...
Sorry for disappearing folks but I had a few personal issues to resolve before getting back to the fun stuff. LOL....
Now to go back and read all 8 pages worth of replies.......I can't wait!! :thumb:
Okay I'm not talking about that group of extinct marine arachnomorph arthropods, but the cutting device......ya I looked that up, I'm not that smart!
Actually I think my title should have been "How often do you use one", or any other type of cutting device?
I am relatively new to the hobby...
I can see how my comment could be read the wrong way, what I was trying to imply is that some shops air (in my limited experience) has been like sucking dry ice and perhaps there could be something more suitable.
"Wet" air of course is not a good thing and agree that it should be avoided no...
I should clarify that my issues of dry mouth are not restricted to just descending, but can happen after being underwater for 30, 40, 50 min. If I can wet my whistle it makes the problem go away, but it also somehow triggers my yawn mechanism.
The lack of understanding why someone would panic due to dry mouth, is likely because you've never experienced it to the extent some of us have.
I am not a nervous person at all and frequently spend my days talking to groups of people, but I too sometimes experience the "panic" feeling of dry...
I'm guessing that by the weight of the Aquapulse (15lbs) that you aren't doing any beach or shallow water detecting, so how deep are you going with it?
Also make it clear how long you have been doing this and the amount of hours you have spent coming up empty. Too many new people to the hobby...
Your hand will stir up the sand some, but it usually only takes a few seconds to clear itself back up again.
If you want you can get a handheld water scoop, but I'd suggest plastic so that you aren't always tripping your metal detector.
Of course using a scoop will cause almost as much...
I too have the CTX and use often in the water for shallow hunts, it's a great machine.
I don't know about the hobby ever paying itself off or not though?? Every time I think I've got there, I go and add more equipment or another machine to the mix?!? :rofl3:
As a detectorist myself I feel I can answer this with confidence..........for whatever that may be worth?? :D
You said all of the good stuff about staying shallow, hunting in calm waters, daylight hours and such, so that's all good and positive. You likely won't be out much more than 12' -15'...
I had the same problem and my LDS showed me the stick on lenses and the XS Scuba Gauge Reader Mask.
I decided to just go with the gauge reader mask and save myself the hassle of having to stick things on.
So far I'm pretty happy with them.

My Scubapro Hydros came with it's own backpack, and can fit a lot of crap in it for easy travel.
There is a video of that online too.....
Although there is a lot to be said about what's missing or not right about fitting your entire kit into that last video, but it still gives you an idea...
100% agree with this comment.
Alec has been around for a heck of a long time, and isn't brand specific........or at least not that I've ever seen?
He has a zillion videos out and still continues to make them, so feel free to ask a question in his comments section as I'm sure he will reply.
I...
My cert cards ink was still drying when I went ahead and purchased my full kit. LOL.....
Like you, I spent hours and hours researching what it was that I wanted and then came here to backup my choices.
I thought for sure I wanted a jacket style BCD, but the vast majority of people (in my...
@rhwestfall Already said it, but you can use the Apex Egress in either direction, without leaks or other issues. I have one and it works fine.
I'm sure there are other brands available, but this can be used in both cold water and warm water diving. I dive in cold water so in order to make it...
Sorry I can't be of anymore help, but good luck in getting it sorted out.
I'd be curious to know what the outcome is, should you find it out.
Best of luck to you.
