Thanks for all the recs everyone and apologies for the hit and run, holidays and all!
I will look eight up and see what makes sense. Ski season has begun and that's top of mind but would still love to get some local diving in this winter so will see what is available.
Thanks again!
Hi all,
Long time Seattleite but have been living abroad and while there started diving. Now I'm hooked and while I'm currently somewhat terrified of the cold here, I'm also building up a DIR setup which is mostly together now.
So.. I'd like to do some pool sessions to sort out the new gear...
Howdy. The land tours are pretty basic but honestly pretty comprehensive. I lived in Ecuador so went to the Galapagos many times and the included tours cover the most important bits. You could add a few days in San Cristobal for some snorkeling, there are some really fun spots where you can get...
Just posted it:
Apeks XTX Cover Tool by nicpottier
Included the Fusion 360 file so feel free to remix.
Again if anybody has access to one of the tools that has the flow/noflow tool and can measure their depth with a set of calipers I'd happily add that.
Take if back, this German version does:

Not sure I want to spend $35 to find out what the measurements are. Does anybody have an OEM tool they can measure?
Ya, understood. Would be easy enough to adjust to do that as well, but would need an OEM one to base it off of.
FWIW, none of the aftermarket tools do that either:

What happens when you get a new 3D printer along with a new regulator? Well of course you use said hammer on the new nail.
Couldn't budge the covers on my new Apeks XTX50s so fired up Fusion 360 and designed a cover tool. Nothing like an $800 tool to save you from a $18 purchase am I right...
Yes yes yes. Can't agree more on all of that. That the US has lost so much manufacturing capability and that we don't view that as a threat to our sovereignty is nuts. It would be mighty hard if not impossible to wean ourselves off that teat at this point.
I think both good and bad products can be made in any country, but when I have the choice I tend to pick US or EU made. I'm willing to pay more for that.
To me it's a matter of keeping the business more local, generally better odds of environmental / social / wage issues and maybe better odds...
Thank you for the detailed report. It sounds like you had IPE at the top of mind immediately upon ascent, did your wife as well? Just wondering if that contributed to her calmly dealing with the situation or whether that was just nerves of steel. :)
