1 Transmitter for Suunto Eon Core and D4i

I purchased a Suunto Eon Core with transmitter and it is paired wonderfully. Subsequently I purchased a Suunto D4i as a back up and I was told I couldn't pair both computers to the one transmitter. But then I started thinking the transmitter sends out a signal and it shouldn't make a...

When should I replace a computer

So I hear generally no air integration but recommended primary and backup computer. I think I'm headed that way.

When should I replace a computer

So now I'm thinking keep the better Cobalt (since I have two) and use it as back up to a Suunto Eon Core. Two air integrated computers. When I started diving there was not even a computer, now everyone advises diving with a backup. Go figure. Other instructors I dive with only use a pressure...

When should I replace a computer

I have two Atomic Cobalt 1 air integrated console dive computers from 2012. One has a relatively good battery. The other shows signs of battery failing. I have contacted Atomic and they no longer make battery kits for this computer. So, when should I consider replacing the computer? Is it...

Doc says can't dive, looking to sell our spots - Belize Aggressor III in January '24

I signed up for Aggressor III in Belize January 13-20. Doctor now says no diving for now. I’m trying to sell our 2 spots in the boat. Trip leader is Fintastic Divers out of Connecticut but we are in Denver so we were flying on our own to Belize. Flight cost is not included. Fintastic Divers...

    Belize Aggressor in January, 2024

I have a trip on Belize Aggressor III JAN 13-20. I just found out my doc says no diving for foreseeable future. I’d like to sell my wife and my slot. The trip is led by Fintastic Diving out of Connecticut. We were slated to fly to Belize out of Denver so air fare is not included but I’d give a...

    IDC and DEMA

Thanks JackD. Sounds like good sound advice. I spent a career attending WEF and AWWA and I know it is nice to see the latest and greatest at one location. And I do realize my shop will want me to teach in gear that they sell so that's a no brainer but being able to see others and gain ideas...

    IDC and DEMA

Yep, I completely understand as I spent a 35 year career attending WEF (Water Environment Federation) and AWWA (American Water Works Assn) "Shows" and conferences. So yes, it is a "Trade Show" but I also know that in "trade shows" there are opportunities for purchases and sales as indicated in...

    IDC and DEMA

So my last post was January this year when I asked about IDC and at that time I decided to remain DiveMster. Well, I changed my mind and successfully completed my IDC and IE so now I'm an instructor though haven't started yet. My shop does offer some equipment discounts but not until I am...

Why a mask with black skirt

I've been diving for 20 years but always used a mask with a clear skirt. actually I've only had two masks. So, I'm considering a new mask and I am wondering what is the benefit to a black skirt on a mask? Seems to me a clear skirt lets in more light and makes the dive brighter. But I could...

    What tools do you take?

I've got the same Pelican case. My only concern about taking that stuff is weight. so I will look closely at your list and see what I normally take and what I wouldn't. I know our shop leader always takes an exhaustive amount of tools and parts but not specific to my gear. So I do need to...

    What tools do you take?

Yep, my feeling is as yours....the boat will have majority of tools and parts and therefore I don't bring a bunch. I did have an o-ring blow out of my computer and thought I could "make do" with a generic spare and next dive the computer flooded. Learned that lesson the hard way!

    What tools do you take?

Yeah, I always wondered about that. Let's see, 4 dives, shower, relax and eat, when is there time to do her hair?? But you gotta know my dear wife! She always looks good for the mantas!

    What tools do you take?

OK, here's the scenario: Going on a trip with a dive shop to a liveaboard. I'm thinking 18 people as well as the shop trip person. So, what tools do you take? To answer my question myself I'll say I take a crescent wrench, allen wrench, spare o-rings, silicon lube (just a tincey tiney bit)...

Who travels with a spare mask and why?

Just curious, who goes on SCUBA trips with a spare mask? Why? is it the same as your primary mask or a different style and why?? Just askin'

    Do I go for IDC?

Hmmm, let me think; Caribbean at 80 degree water and 80' vis or northern lake at maybe what, 60 degree water and 15' vis. For IDC there's no decision to be made but for Tech training the best you can find is the best to go to no matter where or what. I hear that's a great career so best wishes...

    Do I go for IDC?

So does that include all PADI fees and the Emerg First Responder Instructor fees? You say "with accommodations" so what does that mean? and I wonder if your water temp is warm or cold since you're in the "great white north". I'd be interested in more details if you are at liberty to publish them.
