I haven't had a chance yet to dive with either one, but I was looking at both the GoPro and the Paralenz. The Paralenz is like $250 more than the GoPro with a housing. I decided to buy the Paralenz because I liked its size (like a small flashlight) and because it was recommended by a friend...
I just bought a Paralenz camera for Christmas (my gift from me to me LOL). I haven't been diving with it yet, but a friend of mine shot this video with his. I think he was holding the camera in his hand and a dive light in the other hand.
One of the most spectacular dives in Bonaire is called "Rappel", named after the divers who discovered it because they had to rappel down the cliff in full scuba gear to get into the water. Now it is a boat dive.
I only had to do four dives for PADI AOW. The first two were shallow (<40 feet), Buoyancy Control, Navigation, and Search & Recovery. The last two were deep drift dives on wrecks (90+ feet).
They did several skills on each dive. Buoyancy Control and Navigation were done on one dive, Search and Recovery on another dive, and two deep wreck drift dives.
Hi Pyratess
Like others have already said, you have to try them on. Some dive shops will let you pool test a mask.
You shouldn't have to make a mask so tight it squeezes your face and leaves marks. A properly fitting mask requires minimum strap tension to seal.
