Reason I switched; CCR being the most viable option to safely execute deeper wreck dives.
What I love about it; Its efficiency and new found increased operational range
What I didn't really like; That it took years to be able to do the dives I switched to CCR for.
Hi advance,
At Cirkewwa (Malta North); Head out from Susie's pool on a 270deg bearing, the P29 is about 200m off the shore. Wreck safe to penetrate, a mock gun on the foredeck provides for a great shot if your buddy has a camera! Moving away on a bearing of 20deg you will reach tug Rozi...
Hi advance,
It very well depends on your particular interests, however these are some of the very best sites suited for AOWD level and would be my choices for only 4 dives;
Gozo - Dwejra - Topography, Inland sea tunnel, steep walls going to +60m, good visibility.
Gozo - Reqqa point -...
No, it's not that kind of deco. That's just taking it easy to reach your stops and by the time you get there it's cleared. It's not what I'm referring to.
I'm assuming nobody is familiar with the old VR3 here or perhaps they forgot about that feature.. I still have a manual of that thing, let...
Not referring to the formal continuous decompression methods as employed in some sat or chamber operations here.. my bad referring to it as continuous deco, my query is more about.. micro-stops. Did some editing to clear it up
My mistake, title is somewhat misleading making reference to continuous decompression. What I am really referring to is not strictly THE continuous decompression in terms of no stop ascents worked in various rates of ft/min.
Perhaps it's easier to explain; I bet most will be familiar with the...
To clarify.. asking if it's more or less acceptable to still follow a staged decompression, but ascending according to a variable ceiling from a deeper stop to the shallower stop.
e.g. a 20min@40ft followed by 30min@30ft would resolve; hold 40ft for 17min, ascend to 37ft on the 18th minute...
*Edit* - Stressing out that this query is not in relation to formal continuous decompression methods employed in some saturation or chamber operations. I meant 'continuous' also in the context of a staged decompression, but where the ascents are calculated micro-stops themselves. Thus curving...
Indeed, it is a simple reminder, but we have grown to trust our 'magic bracelets'. I don't think it's meant to replace common sense and reason when it comes to scrubber time. The good thing; a warning at -1hr and alarm -30min, even if it's not factual, will drive the point home better than just...
I run the stack timer 'count when on' on the stand alone only.. which is basically running just when I'm about to dive (breathing phases) and few irrelevant minutes to do any changes/updates etc.. well, not sure if it'll prove useful one day, but the little extra fiddle to have these 'warnings'...
well, if you must dive Alu then just keep your V-weight.. weight belt the remaining 3kg. Soft weights if comfort is an issue, and you can also fix weight pockets on your harness, but I'd rather opt to have some weight independent of the main rig.
As I said earlier, I don't dive thick undergarments very often. It's just in the coldest months when I get a chance to dip between bouts of bad weather.
Yes, this is the 'before' the checkout dive.
Thanks for the input all,
Ok, let me expand on the detail a bit.. I'm diving the 2mm hyper compressed Bare XCS2 Tech dry. This is a stretchy neoprene DS and very properly sized. So there's zero overlap with a perfect wetsuit like fit.
Here a DS is not an absolute necessity, sea surface...
Hi folks,
Based on your personal experience, can anyone provide a guesstimates as to how much extra lbs/kg I should expect to add when adding thicker mid-layers (Bare SB system mid-layer) to the thin base layers (Bare SB system base-layer) I usually use?
Some info; diving in a compressed...
